You know who's *HAPPY* that Michael Jackson is dead BTW?

1.  The Iranian mullahs, that's who.

The story was starting to fade anyway as CNN's I-reporters and anyone else with an electronic device gets them violently confiscated now.

CNN was in a loop BTW of repeating how *extremely* important it was that people send this stuff in, then *marvelling* at what they sent in.  Just when the Iranian goon squads are starting to break that inflammatory cycle, Michael sets off a global sensation for them to cover 24/7.

2a.  I'm not saying he's happy, but Sanford (who has *no* intention of resigning be assured) must be a little relieved as well.  But he's got to deal now with the fact that he personally steered a trade mission that wasn't going to Argentina, on to Argentina.  He promises to reimburse for his part of that cooked-up leg, but he should reimburse for all attendees' tickets, hotels, meals of that entire sexcapade joy ride *and* resign.  A tiny bit of pressure will come off him, as he's now not the only news.  As I've said in the TPM-aholics chat room on Mibbit, I'm totally fine with the love story and the empathy and needs-time-for-his-family meme, once he is OUT of office in the near future.  And that Maria, depending on the angle she is shot from, can be some kind of eye candy, and that may threaten his softly-soflty bamboozlement. The romance BTW seems to be especially popular among some women, and that's wonderful for me too once he is GONE but that's not his plan.

2b.  You know Ensign's breathing even easier than before.  (But you can bet them bearded mullahs are just as pleased as punch.)

Actually this is way off. Democrats are happiest, because it takes away all the negative attention from today's cap & tax vote, which is one of the pillars of Hussein's destruction of our economy.

Motorcycle boy, you seem to be dealing with a lot of anger. What are we going to do to help you release those negative feelings?

user-pic

You know, I probably should have put on my glasses, but my first impression of your pic was that you were Goofy. So sorry I misjudged your ferocity, Taz. Or do I need better glasses?

Oh it's not you; I fully admit it's a hard image to get one's peepers around, sweetmolly! I have gone through about six avatars (one, people didn't realize, was the face of a porn actress) and recently I thought I had the issue settled when I was using Speedy Gonzales. But that's been retired by Warner Brothers as politically incorrect and indeed I was eviscerated as the most horrific bigot when I was critical of soon-to-be-Justice Sotomayor -- I obviously needed to let Speedy go, with some regret. I'm still not totally happy but this is where I am now -- Taz! ;)

I am late. All you have to dois notify me, I will come to your blog OT. Always.

Sometimes I think news cycles actually have a direct effect on history.

WHY MUST THIS DECEASED SINGER, THIS MENTALLY ILL PERSONAGE TAKE UP THE ENTIRE WEEK END.

I suppose one of those doctors will be on meet the press or something.

user-pic

He was an extremely talented albeit horribly flawed person, and I am sad, not so much that he is gone, but that his life spiraled so out of control...Still, 24/7 coverage? Like his life, a little over the top.

user-pic

I'm fine with all that you said, Still.

I do think there people that have CNN stick a mike in their face and ask them what they thought of Jackson, and they'll start gushing effusively but honestly I think they sometimes might be able to name only one (or zero) songs that he did. And probably not really give a tinker's damn either, despite extolling, "Oh he really was the king of pop in every way!!"

user-pic

Hey thanks a lot, DD!

Don't you wish they were an alternative TV channel, where they did interviews about what people thought about Jackson and they answered,

"You know I didn't think he was really that good. Some songs were okay I guess, but in general he seemed really overrated." Just for balance.

Also,

"The statutory rape of children kind of bothered me actually."

He became vice president well before George Bush picked him. And he began to manipulate things from that point on, knowing that he was going to be able to convince this guy to pick him, knowing that he was then going to be able to wade into the vacuums that existed around George Bush--personality vacuum, character vacuum, details vacuum, experience vacuum." -Lawrence Wilkerson ********** Iraq expert predicts: "I think the victory will be rapid, within about three weeks." How many terrorists have actually been brought to justice under the philosophy that is being promoted by Vice President Cheney? It hasn't made us safer.
