Olbermann challenge: ask your bartender to turn off Fox or you'll have to leave.

Fox is not only complicit but essentially is the organizer of the murder of George Tiller, according to many accounts.  Few would have heard of Tiller without Bill O'Reilly's frequent ranting.

Tiller did not perform later-term abortions "for *any* reason!" as O'Reilly liked to lie ; the procedure had to be supported by a statement by an independent physician that giving birth threatened a major bodily function of the woman.  Without that written certification, no procedure.  O'Reilly expressed no remorse when asked, of course.

Olbermann has loved featuring O'Reilly on his worst person in the world segment, and O'Reilly has featured many evenings among the top three "worst".  Olbermann says those yucks are over, though, this man has now been killed and Olbermann won't breathe O'Reilly's name again.  What he wants you to do, if your tavern or restaurant won't change the channel, is to politely explain then why you are leaving and taking your business elsewhere.

I'm not in USA, so I can't participate.   Please see if you would like to.

Hi O. I had the same exact thought last night. GMTA (great minds think alike)? LOL.

I've embedded the video if anyone wants to view from TPM here:
http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/blogs/mageduley/2009/06/finally-olbermann-calls-for-qu.php

Even if you are not in the US, you have definitely done your participation by helping spread the word. This madness must stop.

Alright, looks like we are together on this one, M.!

I think it's a good effort. After a while, at least some restaurants and bars may hesitate to run Fox (I won't call it "News" BTW; that is degrading to real journalists). It's good for them to understand that people take offense and that it will cost them (otherwise one is leaving it to the waiters and bartenders to watch what they wanna, and if they love Hannity, you're stuck if you won't just stand up against it).

And I'll go further: People, if you support the President, please consider not supporting a bar or restaurant that refuses to turn off Fox. That they got this guy killed is not really debatable, and they intend to continue provoking assassinations. Spread the word if you will.

Thanks to M. and everyone else, and Jail Cheeney,

O.T.

This really could apply to 'any' business that has FOX playing in it's lobby as well as hotels that only offer FOX (i.e. no other options such as CNN, MSNBC, etc.) in it's basic offerings.

Maybe we should make T-shirts

'Fox News lies' killed Dr. Tiller'

Hi, Synchronicity -- all good points!

If there are really hotels that do that, that's positively Orwellian. "He who controls the present (what news you watch) controls the past (i.e., what rules did Cheeney break?). And he who controls that past, controls the future (will a Fox-infected jury deny to Cheeney the penal experience that society intends for him to benefit from? :)

I'm good with this. If enough people do this, FOx will be out of business soon.

Good deal.

There's also the point, why should we have to be exposed to hate speech just because we want to sip a beer/some wine/a cup of coffee? It's offensive and we shouldn't be subjected to it. If we are silent about it, we can be accused of being complicit.

Tiller's chickens have finely come home to roost. He brought death to the most innocent of us and now will face judgment. Bill O'Reilly stood up for those who could not stand up for themselves.

I thank Fox news and Bill O'Reilly for exposing him and also for condemning his murder. No wonder Fox news is top cable news network by a huge margin. No other new program even comes close.

I know you feel strongly about this; I once did as well and I respect it totally and let's just say I somehow came to different view. Every sane person hates abortion, no question.

Just bear in mind, Bin-Laden's supporters on 9/11 said this:

America's chickens have come home to roost. They brought death to the most innocent of us and now will face judgment. Sheikh Bin-Laden stood up for those Muslims who could not stand up for themselves.

I thank the Sheikh and the brothers for exposing the infidels and also for condemning their murder.
