But also they are in charge of the United States Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom. Wow! I am sure his sentiments are shared with sane conservatives who are disgusted with how the neocons and fundies have taken over their party.

There are those who seek power appealing to our baser instincts (anger, hatred fear). However, truly great leaders appeal to our saner selves. Powell and Obama are putting out that call. I am hopeful the saner voices will prevail - not just in this campaign, but for the entirety of Obama's administration.
