Gore Endorsing Obama TONIGHT!

Finally!!! Yea!!!

From the NYT
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/16/gore-to-appear-with-obama/

And good old Al's Website Himself:
http://blog.algore.com/2008/06/my_endorsement.html

Over the next four years, we are going to face many difficult challenges -- including bringing our troops home from Iraq, fixing our economy, and solving the climate crisis. Barack Obama is clearly the candidate best able to solve these problems and bring change to America.

I've never asked members of AlGore.com to contribute to a political campaign before, but this moment and this election are too important to let pass without taking action.

That's why I am asking you to join me today in showing your support for Barack Obama by making a contribution to his campaign today.

Superdelegates Stealing the Election

For election weary TPMers

I thought everyone would like a little pick me up and persepective of why this campaign is so passionate.

Let's get inspired all over again.

Hillary's Campaign Killing Connections

http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/2008/04/clinton-accepts-aid-from-a-div.php

This is Hillary's coffin nail if the story ever got picked up.

Hillary vows "MASSIVE RETALIATION" against Iran.

If you doubted that Hillary is more of a war monger than John McCain, see tonight's debate when she vows "massive US retailaton" against Iran if Israel is attacked. She extendend these remarks to not only include Israel, but also vowing to inject our military in other nations, involving the US in an "umbrella" of potential conflict.

Of course what no one seems to be reporting is that she has been beating the war drum on the campaign trail, basically setting up the case for war against Iran. Protecting Israel is just her latest to justify it.

Hear her on the campaign trail:

Scary isn't it?

List your favorite Hillary Rovian Tactic

While I know people hate it when someone copies and pastes a long passage, I believe this is an exception, since the information it contains will help all of us. I came across this list a while ago, created to help liberal democrats fight Right Wing spin in all manner of arguments – global warming, creationism, stem cell research etc.

So now CBS News and Yahoo news are the new FOX noise?

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/04/11/opinion/main4009369.shtml

The Bad Company of Barack Obama?
This is the most disgusting crap I've seen that has not come straight from Sean Hannity. And this is CBS News?

Where is Media Matters when all of this is going on? They are really outspoken when Billo, Hannity and the Fox gang are spewing their bile. Now half truths and slander are part of main stream CBS news?

I can't wait for this election to be over. I am just praying that we the people are smarter than the MSM and Hillary Clinton think we are.

Obama speech on religion was just as AWESOME - Video and Transcript

If you thought todays speech was good, here is another great Obama speech that courageously confronts another issue that divides us. The division between religious America and secular America:
(excerpt)
"For some time now, there has been plenty of talk among pundits and pollsters that the political divide in this country has fallen sharply along religious lines. Indeed, the single biggest "gap" in party affiliation among white Americans today is not between men and women, or those who reside in so-called Red States and those who reside in Blue, but between those who attend church regularly and those who don't.

Conservative leaders have been all too happy to exploit this gap, consistently reminding evangelical Christians that Democrats disrespect their values and dislike their Church, while suggesting to the rest of the country that religious Americans care only about issues like abortion and gay marriage; school prayer and intelligent design.

Democrats, for the most part, have taken the bait. At best, we may try to avoid the conversation about religious values altogether, fearful of offending anyone and claiming that - regardless of our personal beliefs - constitutional principles tie our hands. At worst, there are some liberals who dismiss religion in the public square as inherently irrational or intolerant, insisting on a caricature of religious Americans that paints them as fanatical, or thinking that the very word "Christian" describes one's political opponents, not people of faith.

Now, such strategies of avoidance may work for progressives when our opponent is Alan Keyes. But over the long haul, I think we make a mistake when we fail to acknowledge the power of faith in people's lives -- in the lives of the American people -- and I think it's time that we join a serious debate about how to reconcile faith with our modern, pluralistic democracy."

It is an awesome speech! Check out the rest

Countdown "Special Comments" ON HILLARY

Set your recording devices now. I just heard Keith Olbermann say he is doing a Special Comment on Hillary tomorrow night. MSNBC @8pm/7central.

He usually saves these segments for GWB himself. Judging from his previous blistering Special Comments, this one could be historical.

Hillary is no Einstein

I found this quote too good to pass up and while I did use it in a few comments, I felt it needed its own post. Hillary and McCain have both dismissed the power of well thought out words. They push back against that which inspires and motivates, trying to reduce and belittle it.

Let's look at another historical figure who pushed back against the conventional wisdom and changed forever the way we look and understand the world.

"Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices, but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence and fulfills the duty to express the results of his thought in clear form"

We are not as divided as our MSM suggests

It is interesting to note the MSM insists on slicing and dicing us into racial groups. While our constitution says everyone is equal, it seems the boomer generation's reporting keeps pushing the racial/gender meme. I don't mean they are degrading one race/gender or another, but by merely reporting it broken down that way, only exaggerates the lines drawn from the past.

Think about it. As far as race and gender are concerned, you cannot use the "n" word on tv, but you can say how many black folks voted vs white. You cant imply a woman needed a man to get where she is, but yet they can report how many feminist women are behind a certain candidate. We have rejected the former arguments, but still accept the latter.

It is the reporting by the older generation that have experienced these real divides in the past that perpetuates these artificial divides into the future.

So truthfully, we need to get away from the reporting on which group is voting for what. We really are not as divided as the MSM suggests. The walls need to be broken or else it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

If you look, you can see the walls tumbling down around you. The younger generation is especially gender/colorblind. There are women/ethnic CEO's, doctors, lawyers, and just about every business you can think of, and they keep growing. When we'll we be at a point when we can drop the subject? When it is 50/50 across the board?
We will never get there if we allow ourselves to be continually be sliced and diced along gender/racial lines. Even in elections.

People may think it is newsworthy to report these. News outlets may think it is important to project a certain outcome. But does the need to project outweight the need to overcome our predjucies?
Every vote is counted equally, so just as we reject deragatory stereotypes of race and gender, so too we must reject election coverage that breaks us down this way.

Just as we want to change the mindset of what lead us to war, so too we must change the mindset that insists on supporting those crumbling walls that separate us.
