If the gloves don't fit - You must Acquit. Neither California or Florida has yet laid a glove on O J Simpson. I guess you can now offically call him The Black Scooter Libby. Even that label doesn't seem to have the same stigma as Duke Cunningham's The Guy With The Dirty Hot Tub.

Daniel Hopsicker at madcowprod.com recently posted about law enforcement's December 2001 version of an NFL defense. They weren't very sussessful in game planning for OJ's alleged broken field running with a major ecstasy ring in Florida.

What Hopsicker's piece fails to note is that one member of the Grand Jury that sparked the December raid on OJ's house was questioned about his November 27, 2001 communications with the boyfriend of one of the female ecstacy ring members. The juror was one John Acosta. Is this guy related to Ex-Assistant US Attorney General and current USA for Miami R Alexander Acosta? I don't have a clue. Either way, it might be a lesson in why game planning doesn't always work. Even in Florida, they don't call a person Juice for nothing.

Game over? No. The Hopsicker piece combined with a recent post by TPM's own Mrs P made me do a trivia pursuit on this thing. If you're into trivia, you can follow along.

First off, we have the Acosta name thing going on.

Secondly, the girl member of the ecstasy ring is Zenaida Galvez. Jose L Galvez is with the National Capital Planning Commission. David Ames was the General Counsel for Tommy Kotogiannis's Coastal Capital, and Herbert Ames was on the Planning Commission.

Then we have an Israeli ring member by the name of Gerald Lenz. Gary Lenz was with Peregrine Systems and indicted for securities fraud.

Take it another step and we have Douglas S Powanda, the Ex-Chair of Peregrine Systems, selling his house to Duke Cunningham, compliments of Tommy K.

The General Counsel for Peregrine Systems was Richard T Nelson. The President of Willis Allen Realty that handled the transaction was Andrew E Nelson. (And, as an aside, the Republican Political Director was Terry Nelson. Dave Nelson was at Northern NEF that got the no-bid boat barrier contract.)

Our Mrs P mentioned Cameron Quinn of the DOJ working with Thor Hearne and the American Center for Voting Rights. John Quinn was the lawyer for John Moores of Peregrine Systems.

When Thor Hearne forwarded his concocted report to the DOJ, it was Assistant Attorney General R Alexander Acosta that wrote to the judge in Ohio about it.

The originating conversation on the USA purge was between Moschella at DOJ and Michael Collins, now at Munger Tolles Olson. William Todd was the lawyer for Ohio GOP complaintants Rubick & Koralewski. Mary Ann Todd is with Munger Tolles Olson and Barbara Todd was the first time real estate agent at Willis Allen Realty that handled Cunningham's house. And, Kate Todd is with the White House Counsel's Office.

Jeremy R Crook was with Peregrine Systems, and Ben Crook of Providence Development handled the construction on the NV night club in North Carolina. A Tommy K owned club.

Steven Gardner was with Peregrine Systems and Clarlie Gardner is with Agate Flights per Hopsicker.

Peter Hill is the lawyer for the Williams family mentioned in Hopsicker's piece and Frederick Hill is an aide to Rep Derrill Issa (R-Calif). Didn't Issa & Keller of Florida lead the charge against Carol Lam?

Another member of the ring was Susanna M Jimenez. William Jimenez was a suspect in the disapparance of Centre County Pennsylvania District Attorney Ray Gricar.

Somebody had better start changing the water in this hot tub.

Update: Rep Ken Calvert(R-Calif), who took the ride with Cunningham and Tommy K to Saudi Arabia, has now been mentioned as being involved in a land deal with the Jurupa Community Services District. Jim Huber is mentioned as a Director of Jurupa. Marcus Huber was a flight instructor in Naples, Florida.

Valerie Huber is with the National Abstenince Education Association where Bush is sending your tax dollars, plus she was receiving Ohio state contracts.

The J M Huber Corp was under investigation in San Diego concerning wastewater coming from Kelco Company. Too many dirty hot tubs, I guess.
