When The General Election Comes...

I've been thinking about the future recently. It is only a matter of time before this primary is over, and there really isn't even much reason to wait for it to be over because we all know how it is going to end up, so why wait to attack McCain?

We've spent so much time fighting amongst ourselves between all of our different factions, eventually coming down to two sides, and that is what all of the Democratic/Left/Liberal/Progressive sites are like, with varying subcultures for each site. But when it comes down to the general who are we going to argue with? We'll all pretty much agree here and on DailyKos and HuffPo and all of the other sites, so to have more than a big echo chamber of anti-McCainism, don't we need a new place to do battle?

So my question is, where do the moderates go? Where can we find those quivering souls in the middle so we can fight for their hearts and minds? I really don't know, because I don't frequent those sites, but I assume they exist. I recently created an account on Townhall.com, which is about as liberal as Dubya himself, but is there anywhere in the middle?

So I'm asking everyone, please leave comments and lets discuss what sites are out there and where we can go to win over the moderates from the dark side.

And you should get a townhall.com membership at some point too so we can flood those bastards with some intelligence. ;)

The Hidden (Acceptable) Bigotry

While I'm still boycotting posting blogs with html until TPM adds a better CMS and an edit option, there is a story that is getting a lot of interest on DailyKos, but doesn't appear to have made it on to TPM. The quick and dirty is that Illinois state Rep. Monique Davis lambasted an atheist during an committee hearing for no other reason than him holding different religious views. I for one was appalled by the blatant bigotry, as well as the degree to which bigotry and intolerance toward atheists is perfectly acceptable in this country, whereas if she had attacked any other religion, group or race in such a way she would have been out of a job in less than 24 hours. That is the subject of my blog, which you can read here, if interested.

McCain Caught Lying About Iraq, Or Just Being Incompetent

I can't stand TPM's content management system destroying my posts, so I'm just going to point you to the original post on my blog (besides there is a poll that I can't add on here anyway). But here is the gist: McCain gave a speech today on Iraq, and lied about US involvement in the recent attacks which left Bush looking like an idiot and the Maliki government in bad shape. You can read the whole thing here, and please vote on the poll (on the right hand side) whether you think McCain lied, or that he is just incompetent.

It's Official, Ralph Nader Gets Off On Democrats Losing

Here <a href="http://www.thepersonalispolitical.com/2008/02/i-dont-know-how-to-put-this-ralph-nader.html">I just thought Ralph Nader was a dumbass who wasn't aware of the consequences of his actions</a> (or just didn't care). <a href="http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0308/Whos_got_her_back.html">Turns out</a>, he gets his jollies off of watching the Democrats go down in a ball of flames:
<blockquote>
Nader has released a statement reacting to <a href="http://www.thepersonalispolitical.com/2008/03/senator-leahy-to-hillary-withdraw-and.html">comments by Sen. Patrick Leahy</a> (D-Vt.) suggesting an apparently insurmountable lead by Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.):

"Senator Clinton:

"Just read where Senator Patrick Leahy is calling on you to drop out of the Presidential race. Believe me.

I know something about this. Here’s my advice: Don’t listen to people when they tell you not to run anymore. That’s just political bigotry.

"Listen to your own inner citizen First Amendment voice. This is America. Just like every other citizen, you have a right to run. Whenever you like. For as long as you like.

"It’s up to you, Hillary. Just tell them — It’s democracy. Get used to it.

"Yours truly, Ralph Nader"
</blockquote>
Isn't that sweet? The ultimate loser, no chance in hell of winning candidate has become the spiritual mentor of the next up in coming loser, no chance in hell of winning candidate.
<blockquote>
"Listen Hillary, even though there is no way you can win without hijacking the democratic process and disenfranchising hundreds of thousands, if not a million voters, and even though you staying in this race is only helping the Republicans get yet another turn at the White House, you go girl!  You don't have to drop out if you want to be a spoiler, look at me! If you want to destroy the Democratic Party's chances in November, you go right ahead! I did, and I f**kin' loved it!"
</blockquote>
Wonderful. It looks like she is in great company. They should join a "We like to screw the Democratic Party out of spite" Club. They could do bake sales and earn badges.

Hillary Can't Answer The Most Basic Question!!

Today a reporter FINALLY asked the most obvious and basic question, aside from "What is this experience, specifically, that you have that you think makes you so much more qualified than Senator Obama?",:

Reporter: Your campaign has made a big argument that you have won in
the big swing states and this makes you a more viable candidate in the
general election. Could you just explain that logic because if Obama
lost in Ohio that doesn't necessarily mean he will lose in a general
election As well Al Gore and John Kerry both won Pennsylvania in a
general election. So could you just explain that argument?

Okay, so here we have the question that everyone in the media should have automatically, reflexively asked when she started making her "big state" argument that her performance (narrow wins) in the Democratic primary somehow means ANYTHING for the general election, despite the clear evidence from all the polls which suggest Obama actually does BETTER than her in nearly every state she was won, including all of the big "important" states. So her answer? She talks around the question, repeats her unfounded talking points, and in no way answers the basic question that was asked of her:

Honestly, has Hillary finally lost her damn mind??

It's long, but I think the final verdict is that she is crazy, but you tell me:

Hillar Can't Win The General, END OF STORY!

I feel like I might be taking crazy pills here, but why is no one mentioning the painfully obvious fact that the latest polls have shown that Hillary can't win Washington, Oregon, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania or Iowa in the general election against McCain, while Obama carries all of these comfortable. Hillary can barely carry New Hampshire, and all indications are that increased Republican turnout on election day would finish her off there as well. It is getting to the point where I'm not sure if she can carry any states aside from maybe New York (I haven't seen any polls recently from California, Massachusetts or New Jersey). Juxtapose this with Obama, who according to the polls can not only carry all blue states, but also carries red states like Colorado and Nevada against McCain. This should be the end of the story, period. We have an easy choice here: do we want to win in November, or do we want to lose? It IS that simple.
