For Chuck
I wrote this a few years ago and am posting it now to recognize the good work of Chuck Keller and others in dealing with PTSD both from the past and that to come. .
Snap
A long War Story in Seventy-five Words
Nine jungle-rot months and my last best friend, a good guy,
Just lost it.
From behind us the old villager's sudden sing-song screams
grated schizophrenic nerves.
A warning, maybe.
Danny whirled, His M-16 screaming shut up.
The dead mama san obeyed instantly.
Now, everything is quiet. Spooky quiet.
Except Danny's crying.
The worlds axis shifts weird,
The whole planet wobbles.
Every ones going crazy.
Nobody is innocent,
nobody's saved
And I'm gettin' scared.

Haunting.

I have taken the liberty of linking to this post from my own. Its eloquence so fits my point.

Thanks, barefooted and Sara. I woke up this morning and after a few minutes of the news I found myself thinking of all the damned reasons people find to fight wars, usually paople who feel safe from their effects.
I decided to post this, then decided not to because it might be inapropriate, then said what the hell.

JP, Thanks. I have been very hit and miss at TPMC for a while and had missed reading you before now, but I just went to your sight and read your previous blogs. Very well done, IMHO.
