single payer healthcare
Ok now I know I'm being a pest and I'm sorry. You good poeple here have convinced me single payer is the way to go.
Now I have a big problem. I don't know what to do to help. I have never been much into politics. And always figured my voice dont really matter much. Now after being here on TPM for a few months.(wow seems longer than that ) I know it does a little anyway. Yesterday after I got the final answer I needeed I wrote my represenative from kansas senator Sam brownback Now it supreised me to get a response as quick as I did but it was a form letter so.And all it said in nutshell was that he more or less didnt care what we think its what he thinks that counts and he's against single payer. So my question is what now? I mean is there anything else I can do or what? I hope there is but dont know and hope you good and smart people can help me.
Sorry i waited so long to get into political stuff but better late then never I guess.
On a different subject . I was also wondering is there a website or something where you an see how the canidates voted on different stuff or do you have to take there word for it? I hope there is becouse most of what these people say around election time is lies to get votes. Once again I am sorry that Im so stupid about these things. For most of my life I just figured they would do the right thing but not anymore.
Well I hope everyone is having a nice day.

You have Roberts and Brownback as Senators, in my estimation you are screwed; but don't give up hope, maybe they will go hike the Appalachian Trail.

There is an awful lot more that you can do.
Although I love the intimacy of TPM and the level of intellectual discourse is high, the place for action guidance on health care reform is Daily Kos.
Here's one "action" link from today's Kos:

You can talk to people you know and search out others you don't but who, like you, "get it". You can keep reading TPM's news, and the blogs in the cafe, especially the blogs about healthcare and singlepayer. LisB, DickDay, Ripper, Gregor, Synch and Gumbun are some of the highly rec'd reading. You can visit the TPM-Aholics chat room, just remember to sign in with your TPM avatar. The link is somewhere on LisB's blog.
If you can't go to the Rally in Washington- like me- you can give a few bucks to the excellent cause of supporting Gumbun's and Ripper McCord's brave representation of us TPMers there. Just go to the blog with the title "Single-Payer Healthcare Rally - Washington DC July 30th" and especially please, please do read this one and recommend it.

Vote. Against them, of course. Even if the Dems run some random piece of patio furniture against them. And try and work on your family and friends - you'd know who among them might be open to persuasion.
Other than campaign contributions, it's the one thing they understand. And tell them so, and why.
