single payer healthcare

Ok now I know I'm being a pest and I'm sorry. You good poeple here have convinced me single payer is the way to go.

Now I have a big problem. I don't know what to do to help. I have never been much into politics. And always figured my voice dont really matter much. Now after being here on TPM for a few months.(wow seems longer than that ) I know it does a little anyway. Yesterday after I got the final answer I needeed I wrote my represenative from kansas  senator  Sam brownback Now it supreised me to get a response as quick as I did but it was a form letter so.And all it said  in  nutshell was that he more or less didnt care what we think its what he thinks that counts and he's against single payer. So my question is  what now? I mean is there anything else I can do or what?  I hope there is but dont know and hope you  good and smart people can help me.

Sorry i waited so long to get into political stuff but  better late then never I guess.

On a different subject . I was also wondering is there a website or something where you an see how the canidates voted on different stuff or do you have to take there word for it? I hope there is becouse most of what these people say around election time is lies to get votes.  Once again I am sorry that Im so stupid about these things. For most of my life I just figured they would do the right thing  but not anymore.

Well I hope everyone is having a nice day.

healthcare Part 2

ok well you convinced me I was wrong yesterday. But unfortunately i thought of something else that kinda bothers me with single payer healthcare. So here it goes, I hope you can convince me Im wrong again.

Well if we go to single payer  we eliminate the insurance companies from heathcare right? Do we think they will just give up there profits and go on? I dont  i think what they will do is just raise the prices on all the other insurance we all need so bad. Life Insurance, House Insurance, and most of all  Auto Insurance which has we been required to have now.

The big corporations dont give up there money so easy. and unfortunately they have a lot of tools at there disposal including a lot of congresspeople.

I hope you can do as good a job of changing my mind today as you did yesterday.

Hope everyone is having a good day!!!!

healthcare

I've been reading for awhile here about single payer healthcare and I have had some others hear talk to me about it.

I hope I dont get myself in trouble here but my opinion (and it is only my opinion) is that it would be a bad thing for most people and a good thing for a few.

Everybody that works for a living and tries to get by will have a harder time becouse we will be paying for everybodies healthcare.

The super rich dont pay taxes becouse there cheats that have so many loopholes to get away from paying. The poor that dont work dont pay taxes becouse they dont work. That leaves the rest of us to pay.

I know we need some kind of reform but i would prefer something that requires you to be working if you are physically able to work.

I know a lot of people that work very hard and still cant afford insurance. They are the ones I'd like to helpbut there are others that i know that would take advantage of the program and they dont want to work.  My own brother is a good example of that  he is 34 yrs old and hasnt worked more than a yr his whole life.would i like to see him have insurance  yes do I want to pay for it with higher taxes   no way..

I know this will probably make a lot of you mad but its the way I feel. I know a lot of people and they are not all good people like you. They would run up healthcare cost just to try and get drugs from the Drs. And they are capable of working but figure it is easier to let the rest of us pay there way.

Well I hope everybody is having a nice day.
