calling for the boycott of GM
well I was planning on not posting anymore then today I read about the call for a boycott of GM and decided that I needed to say something.
I have been called a Union hating person. In a way that is true I seriously dont believe the unions represent the workers anymore. Now I could be wrong in fact I probably am but it seems the workers would be a lot more willing to help keep the company going then the unions seem to be.
As for boycotting GM how un American can you get!! General Motors is the american company. Has everyone forgot the saying years ago baseball applepie and chevrolet. Now baseball is still american and so is apple pie so we must not forget chevrolet.
I hope everybody will forgive any misspellings and other mistakes in this post. I do try to get it right.
Have a nice day

Red Where I work is non union and if you want to start an argument just say something good about unions. You will get a long list of horror stories about unions.Of course we have absolutely no say about hours worked, safety, benefits and be can fired at a managers will without any say so whatsoever and no one to protect us.The Dallas Times Herald was the only place Ive worked with a union, we had negotiations every year, and could not be dismissed without proper procedures and warnings. We were not overpaid or ridiculously over protected. There is abuse on both sides. In a perfect world there would be no need for unions, employers would value their employees as co-partners and treat them as such. There are a few companies out there like that and they dont need unions, then there are the majority of companies who will abuse their employees, they of course will despise unions which might give the employees some protection from tyrant bosses.

yes things would be better if unions were not needed the place I work is also non union but they have a system that runs a lot like the unions we have a group of people from each department that meets with the owner and discusses raises and work conditions we also have what they call a mentor that will discuss problems with you and ussually work things out if there is a disagrrement with boss and can actually stop him from firing you

These things of which you speak, that were "like unions" need to be remembered when there are no unions, because they will deteriorate until they are no more.
Do the unions want GM to survive less then the workers? Hardly, but they know from much research into the matter, research replicated on blogs like this, that the failure of the automakers is not related to their performance or their wages, but to poor model choices, market choices and the fact that healthcare is not an expense to their foreign competitors.
