It Runs in the Family

My college-aged niece in PA, Jennie, has been a liberal for quite some time now, which is pretty amazing considering her parents are both Republicans.  She recently started up her own blog and I'm pleased to share it with you here.  I'm very proud of her and I think she's doing a great job with her site.

I hope you'll enjoy her site and I encourage you to go back and visit frequently.  Thanks.  Oh, and, uh...remember, guys, she's my college-aged niece, so behave.  "K??  Cuz Aunt Lissie's watching you...

;)

LOL, you'll definitely want to read her section on Politics (link in the black bar in the middle of the homepage).....damn I love that girl!!

user-pic

Kudos to your niece! I'm off to check out the free blog template that she's using. Maybe I'll actually make use of one of the domains I've been sitting on, paying for, and haven't used for years.

user-pic

Yeah, it's a great template, much better than the one she was using originally. The site looks ten times better than it did when she first started it.

Good luck with yours, Astral.

user-pic

That's a great looking blog, very professional. I couldn't imagine being able to keep something like that up in college (or for that matter now). You B's are a bright bunch! :)

user-pic

Thank you, and yeah, I don't know how she does it either. She's got a lot of energy and not much free time. The kid's amazing.

user-pic

Why LisB. I always behave went I aint misbehavin. ha

You bet I will run to it right after I submit this.
And I will be a gentleman.

user-pic

You, Dickon?? Why of course you will ;)

Oh, be sure to say hi to Dino while you're there...but don't get too close, he smells like corn chips.

user-pic

Sweetheart, they are shutting down Lingr or something.

How can we keep in touch. I was looking forward to tonite.

If you have any info I am dikkday48--you know this.

lets get together for music and fun. We have to fix this or my heart will die.

user-pic

Well, we have until May 15th...maybe we can find another hosting spot before then.

Lis, you're the sleuth...up for that?

user-pic

Ah Stilli, you are going on vacation. The site says something like goodbye and good luck. Not working today. REgardless of this May 15thstuff.

I will
look around also for next week maybe.
I will tell you that this sound system is great and I have been playing my favorite songs.

It is just I cannot share them.

You have a nice weekend. And I did get a message from The People C. Thank you.

user-pic

Well, crap! I read the fine print about being able to post until the 15th, but didn't try to get in...bummer.

Yep, I'm off to spend a weekend w/ my other love...scrapbooking. Gotta tell you though...I will be SHOCKED if I don't find a way to jump on line for a bit. The thought of no TPM 'till Monday has me nervous.

user-pic

They aren't shutting it down until May 31st. Meantime, Paige has found us a new place and we're testing it right now.

user-pic

Gave the site a quick look-see and will get back to it when I'm not on the run! Congrats Lis...so much to be happy about lately, huh?

user-pic

P.S. Please tell Maggie I'll try to see her in chat on Mon. nite...I'm off for a weekend trip.

user-pic

Will do, Stilli. Enjoy yourself!

user-pic

The apple doesn't fall far from the Aunt.

Now, someone, take my son the so-called Libertarian, please...

user-pic

LOL! What a comedian...

Hey, listen, if I can get "my Republican mother" to join TPM and read all these posts and start agreeing with them, hey - anything can happen.

There's hope for your son yet, Steve.

user-pic

While you are at it, my "Hannity is too liberal" son, as well?

user-pic

Sigh, it happens in the best of families...

Nature/nurture - nurture/nature?

user-pic

Maybe we need a support group! Mine thinks Michael Savage is the be all end all, it's frightening!

user-pic

Wow, that's tough stilli but if anyone can have an impact it would be LisB.

user-pic

BTW Lisb, Jennie is doing great with that site. You must be so proud.

user-pic

Thanks! I am very proud. My sisters have raised some really awesome kids. I'm very happy to see Jennie using her noggin and questioning her parents' politics and wanting to do good things in the world. She's a really good kid...well, adult really. Ack!

user-pic

One more reason never to start my own blog! Kudos to her!

user-pic

And aren't I the proud Grandma of Jennie? I admit
I was a bit upset when both she and her oldest sister announced they were liberals in my almost entirely Republican family but I too am proud of her blog and the job she has done. She is such a great kid and a free spoken gal - can hold her own in any political argument and knows her stuff.

user-pic

You can say THAT again!

user-pic

MM - I give you two months, maybe three, before your voter registration card undergoes a makeover. :-)

user-pic

It happened!

Maggie is an indie now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(standing ovation for Maggie)

You all haz yerselves to thank.

Especially, steve

user-pic

Wow. MM is an astute and quick thinker!!!

pat, pat, pat, pat (sound of paws clapping while driving).

Was it Steve or was it Murray that did the actual perzuazion? Kudoz either way!!!

user-pic

Quite a site. Being a computer geek myself I know the time it takes to do that. Doing so as a full time student is overwhelming.

I remember your post from a while back so I appreciate your comment to us guys but I'm still a little insulted. Just because we drool over hot young coeds doesn't make us bad. It just makes us normal. It's a bit of a curse actually. But then I don't expect you to understand any more than I can understand being a woman.

user-pic

You're forgiven :-)

And I will ask her. Thanks for the suggestion.

user-pic

Forgiven? For what? Being a man. Excuse me!

user-pic

You have to ask your niece to link to TPM.

user-pic

After I question Mom and Dad on their politics, I'm going to ask them why I am so short, and you all are so tall...

Well thank you Aunt Lis! and Mema! and everyone! I truly appreciate all of the positive feedback, it has been a wonderful overwhelming. I did spend a ton of time studying this semester (finished on Thursday, woo!) so now I finally have the time to dedicate and really get my voice out, and discuss some causes very close to my heart. Worked really hard to get President Obama in office, but it doesn't stop there.

Last note, I know my conservative family was mentioned in a few comments, I'm sure plenty of research could be done and how some children become republicans and others have complete opposite ideologies, but I feel it's very important to always have an opposing voice somewhere. Definitely keeps me on my toes.
I was lucky to grow up with parents that have strong convictions, and they passed that onto me, as long as we can both have open minds and hearts, we can respectfully drive each other crazy :)

So again thank you for the comments! Keep 'em coming!

Who doesn't love a cute coed? LOL

user-pic

Heh

you rawk, darlin'

Just like yer auntie

=D

user-pic

It's good to see our family getting along no matter what the politics, lovey. And it's great to see YOU HERE!!!

Forget what I said about my conservative family in the past.....I think we've come a long way, baby.

user-pic

Oh, and as for the tallness....it comes from your mother's side. But it skipped a few people.

It happens, and, um, height isn't everything.....heart is.

user-pic

Oh you did drop by. Ha. Good to meet you.

Your auntie wished that we all would meet you and be gentlemen. ha.

I liked your blog and I commented. Good show.

user-pic

Just wanted to introduce myself, Jennie...I adore your Auntie, so I feel like you are family w/o even meeting you!

I am so impressed w/ your blog and the fact that you are paying attention to politics at a time when you have so much on your plate...you are off to a GREAT start!

Welcome to TPM. I'm very anxious to hear what you are thinking about, so get blogging, girl!

user-pic

well, on politics I think we can get along .... but regarding Big Ten, I gots to say "Go Badgers!"

It is great to see you here. I know your aunt is so very proud of you, and I now understand why after visiting your blog. Very impressive!

Besides, LisB is special, and that kinda' gives you the inside track on being pretty special here yourself. So special. in fact, that I believe dickday even promised to behave around you. I want to see what that looks like .. dickday behaving, I mean.

I look forward to reading what's on your mind. And welcome aboard!

user-pic

Jeez, Lis...you're starting a dynasty!

Bio

There she is, my little one, So quick to be hurt, so quick to grin, Timid, afraid, holding out her hand, Yet many a heart she will always win. Playing, reading, talking to her dolls, Then time for cuddling, time for a kiss. She whispers, “I love you” in my ear, There she goes, my sweet little miss. Blond hair tied up in pert little bows, Skin so soft and smooth like a dove. One minute a tear, next a smile, That’s my child, my littlest love. - Mum
