In Love With Love

HuffPo has this annoying habit of providing slideshows, lately.  "Obama PDA", where we get to see all those adorable pictures of Barack and Michelle hugging, kissing, giving each other terrorist fist jabs, and hugging their gorgeous kids.

Yesterday, it was Biden and his new puppy.

Damn, you, Arianna, for making my heart melt when I should be blogging angrily about politics.

So, as if the cutesy DC invasion wasn't enough, I am now falling in love with other bloggers, too.

Dickday.  Marquis.  Thera P.  StillIdealistic.  Bwak the chicken (who is no chicken).  Genghis who's lost his head.  Quinn the Mighty Eskimo.  Hrebendorf the cat hare.  So many of you.  I have fallen in love with you.

It's like the super-hyper-hormone-driven crushes I had back in junior high school.

One of you blogs, and I come running.  I read through your post and I wanna comment smartly and have to sit there pondering for over an hour which comment to make that will show you not only how I feel but how smart and hip I am.

God, if it's like this for me here at a political website, just imagine what I'd go through at e-harmony?

Seriously, though:  I love all of you.  Even the people I haven't yet read and started following yet.  The fact that you're here, talking politics and pain and principle, it speaks to my heart in ways you just can't imagine.

Xoxo,
Lis

Spunky AND sweet! I know what you mean Lis...this place and the people in it speak to my heart every day, too...

xoxo back attcha!

user-pic

I never thought of myself as being "spunky" before. But....I like it.

user-pic

Shucks, Ms. Lis, you're a sweetheart - I am like putty in your hands.

user-pic

Yeah, I know. There's something special in gaining an appreciation for so many characters; so many personalities. Connections are made. Friendships are formed. And we are left to wonder at so many people in the world who are funnier, smarter, more loving and caring, and more "human" it seems than even those people we know in the flesh.

As for love? Well, I don't know 'bout that. C'mon, let's take a ride and we can talk about it!

user-pic

I have a hardware problem and cannot hear. Sea of Love with Pacino is a bplus maybe. But the highlight of the film is in the credits when Waits sings Sea of Love. It is fantastic. But cable will strip it because cable drops credits. Waits rocks.

user-pic

Well, they squeeze them over to the side to run promos, mostly. If you have any "on demand" stuff, you may find it there.

And yes, Waits is fantastic. I haven't caught him live in many years, although some of his sets have been among the most memorable I've seen. And the guy can write a song, no doubt of that.

Another fave is him doing "Bad Liver and a Broken Heart" in Paradise Alley. He plays an appropriately named minor barfly character - "Mumbles".

user-pic

I still sneak to one other site where they ignore me and I try to sneak something past them. I do not understand how you can glean personalities from pen pals. Maybe that is the soul?

user-pic

It's "Cosmo's moon." Remember in Moonstruck, when everyone felt love. For me, now everyday is "Obama's moon." He's feed me to love again. After the loss of Martin, John and Bobby. Living with inhumanity, racism, and false wars. I'm free, to love things I've always loved, our flag, our troops, our country.

I watched, Obama's first stump speech. After, my wife asked me what I thought. I replied, "he got me with Hope."

I just walked, Murry, and there it was, "Obama's moon."

Thanks for your post. La Bella Luna.

That's amore.

This is a beautiful post, LisB! Just heart-warming! Especially this:

The fact that you're here, talking politics and pain and principle, it speaks to my heart in ways you just can't imagine.

Yes I can - I feel the same way!

And here's a riff - following on your post. The willingness to take risks and expose ourselves, the sharing of principles and ideals and yes, love, it's like a feedback loop, spurring creativity and compassion and maybe ultimately better policies and politics.

Maybe, over time, "a melting heart" is more valuable than mere "blogging angrily about politics."

I think something beautiful is happening here. Something wise and creative and fun at the same time.

As quinn wrote the other day, the nomads started to put down roots, and new things emerged, new visions were needed. Something has drawn us together here. And others (in the background) .... maybe not writing but reading and thinking, sitting in the shadows of our campfire, warming themselves, warming us somehow with their very presence (felt, but unseen).

And it's all coming out of people's willingness to do this without any reward except each other. Each other and the satisfaction of expressing ourselves and learning from each other.

I'm just glad to be a part of this.

About love, here's a quote by Lux Umbra Dei:

We are made entirely of it, there is nothing that is not it!

Anger has not worked. Maybe love will.

user-pic

Anger has not worked. Maybe love will.

Amen, TheraP, amen!!!

user-pic

"I'm just glad to be part of this."

Me Too, Thera. There is just something warm and organic going on here. On a political blog no less. (shakes head in amazement)

Lis is like that friend in school who was always warm and cheery. No matter what kind of crappy day you are having, she is the one who is always bouncing by your locker ready to cheer you up.

At the risk of sounding disgustingly syrupy sweet - I whisper (..I {heart symbol} you guys..)

(ahem ahem, shakes off the sentimentality) Now back to our regularly scheduled socio-political rants. :)

user-pic

Sentimentality is back in style.

Froggy went a courtin' . . .

user-pic

The froggy loves you all from the bottom of his 3-chambered, cold-blooded heart! Ribbit!

user-pic

I am too a chicken. Seen any blogs from me lately?

I love you, too LisB.

=D

user-pic

You're a pretty courageous chicken!

user-pic

Awwwww, you and LisB be the brave ones...

Now stop, my wattle is getting all wobbly.

user-pic

Thanks LisB. Lovely.

user-pic

I am sitting here watching a frog winking with punctuation marks. And TheraP just drops a comment that could be her own blog.

I am laughing at a rooster and a frog and whatever burnedout is.

TheraP and LisaB, they were the best of friends.
Apart they get more comments
And more recommends
Together they preach and
receive the 'amens'
But when it gets dark
and gloomy and sad
I turn on my web to see
Where are my LisaB and TheraP

The end

Once in love with LisB,
always in love with LisB
Ever and ever fascinated by her,
sets your heart afire to stay.

Once you read some LisB,
tear up your list it's LisB
Ply her with bonbons, poetry, and flowers, moon a million hours away.

You might be quite the fickle-hearted poster so carefree and bold
Who follows a girl and later thinks it over and just quits cold.

But once in love with LisB,
always in love with LisB
Ever and ever sweetly you'll romance her,
trouble is the answer will be
That LisB'd rather stay in love with me.

(instrumental), always in love with LisB
Ever and ever fascinated by her,
sets your heart afire to stay.

(instrumental), get rid of your list it's LisB
Ply her with bonbons, poetry, and flowers,
moon a million hours away.

It is a funny, and a delightful thing Lis. I came here during the election in need of political dialogue, but stayed just for the company. So many great hearts and minds in one spot. A great combination of intellectual discussion, humor, friendship, and yeah... luv. What a rare treat!

user-pic

You guys are what brought me to my political awakening and are supporting me through a spiritual reawakening/redefinition. It seems impossible that so much life change could be caused by a bunch of whacko keyboard pounders, but there you have it.

I have often marveled in various comments about how all this is even possible, but since it is affecting so many different people, it can't be just me being nuts (which I DID consider initially!)

I know, the word love gets bandied about too much these days (i.e. I LOVE ice cream!) but if this isn't love, I don't know what it is...

user-pic

You, my dear, would charm the socks off of anybody!

user-pic

Did you just call me whacko?

user-pic

LOL...with GREAT love! Good to see you, O...we haven't been traveling on the same posts lately!

user-pic

Speaking of whacko. Where's more John Adams. I love the name Orlando. It calls to mind a great Spanish Aristocrat or Aristocratic family. And there is the song isn't there?

At any rate, where's John Adams?

user-pic

Now I'm learning about TJ. I'll be sharing sometime this week.

user-pic

Amen, amen!

user-pic

Lis...if you missed this post please check it out...You are part of why I wrote it!
