It's No Longer Close

This close, and people still want to argue over idealogy.  People still want Ron Paul or Bob Barr or Dennis Kucinich, and -- Dammit! -- if their leader is not there, they will not vote.

I don't blame them.  If I wasn't for Obama, I'd be feeling rather disappointed and upset too, and I'd probably sit this one out, in protest.

I did it in 2004.  I just dropped out and stopped caring.  Didn't fight, didn't invest any interest or money, didn't care a rat's ass who won.

All that bought me was another four years of Bush.  Another four years in Iraq.  Another four years of frustration.

So I've learned my lesson.  This year, it's not worth it to give up and take the easy way out.  This year, we have only two choices, not several.

It's yes we can, or it's no we won't.

Nothing in between fits or works, so get in line with what you want and stay there.

Now, I ask you, my friends....

Did it need to come to this?

user-pic

OK, folks now we need to go to work to support Dennis Shulman (D-NJ) against the republican who is running a dishonest campaign against him.

And this one, just because.

I heard that Tracy used to play in Boston T Stations for loose change.

user-pic

Looks like it paid off. Next time I have to do my laundry, I know who to hit up for quarters.

user-pic

Recommend, dammit....good tunes, if nothing else.

Can't seem to hide...

Hey LisB! Rec'd for being a late nite tune fiend. Here's one for everybody that's got an ache. From "America's Stones," led by the best lyricist in the land. She's Achin' To Be.

user-pic

Nice tune! Thanks, Quinn!!

Okay, I took the easy way out.

Here's why you should recommend this post, if you got this far.

Here's me naked: I believe that swinging back to democracy vs. what we have today will help us overseas. That's first.

Second, I believe that Barack Obama is a good man with sound principles and that he wants us not only to succeed as a nation, but that he wants the whole globe that we live on, the fragile little ball we reside on, to survive.

Third, I believe that for all these good things to occur, we need a starting point.

That's what I believe, and, dammit, I'm sticking to it.

You forgot to link to the photograph. ;[

user-pic

I believe it too, lis! Yes we can!!

user-pic

LisB, once again, you have crystallized my thinking.

Dem's always do this to themselves. We did it with Gore (Nader) AND with Kerry (93 percent voted for Bush, if Kerry had gotten that we would have won). As a matter of fact, Obama may very well be the first Democrat to get the largest chunk of the Dem Party and considered how large it is now that is no easy task.

user-pic

Seriously.... I was looking something unrelated up on wikipedia the other day, and I was shocked to discover that Republican Party numbered 55 millsion people in 2004, while the Democratic Party numbered 72 million.

user-pic

Problem is, there's usually 18 million members of the Democratic Party passed out on the front lawn, morning of November 4th.... This year, let's hold the party til the day after.

user-pic

NOW ya tell me! Oy...vey.

user-pic

What about those who don't have a lawn?

user-pic

For them... we have candied apples.

But not til the 5th.

user-pic

Hey I was one of those who supported Dennis Kucinich with the realization that it was a hopeless case growing as the primary season wore on. The more I heard Obama speak, the brighter the light of hope burned. If he cannot fix the wreck of the last 8 years, I don't know who can.

user-pic

Although it ain't over until it is over, what is certainly over is forty plus years of madness. And, yep it ain't never perfect and battles will continue, but the republican nonsense reached the high point with Bush & Co, and its end is shown by McCain and Palin who are burying the remaining elements that are mostly destructive and toxic. This is Obama's achievement; the rest is fodder for conversation and blogging.

user-pic

Vote downticket Green, Socialist, Indy, or the freakin' Christian Falangists if you want. The bigger their presence at the local and state level, the more legitimate their presidential candidates are in the future.

As it is now? There are only two choices, and if you've got eyes and a brain it ain't hard to pick which one is better.

user-pic

Well I've got eyes, heh.

user-pic

It's like David Sedaris said (paraphrase): To be undecided in this election is like being on an airplane when they push the meal cart down the aisle, and the stewardess says, "we have two choices today: chicken, or shit mixed with ground-up glass." To be undecided is to hesitate and ask "how is the chicken prepared?"
