Falling Off The Tire Swing...
So i'm working on a special project about pundits and journalists falling out of love with McCain. Drop me a comment with your favorite moments, either print or video.

Joe Klein is the classic, but Josh has been all over that. Andrew Sullivan loved McCain during the primaries and claimed to be conflicted at the beginning of the general and has swung pretty hard against him since...

Problem is, if they were on the swing in the first place, they are second rate. And will show it again soon. Wouldn't it be nice if they proved me wrong. They should try, it's not hard.

Lila,
My man Chris Mathews would be one to consider in this category. Back in 2000 it was Chris IMHO who did more to help portray McCain as a "straight talker" than any other member of the MSM.
Now Chris not only gets a tingle running up his leg when he listens to Barack, he spends night after night on Hardball calling out McCain surrogates for:
- McCain's attacks on Barack's "association"
- McCain's nomination of Palin who Chris considers grossly unqualified to be VP
And on and on...

David Foster Wallace wrote what you might call a poetic political travelogue about riding McCain's bus back in 2000.
I don't know exactly how Wallace's opinion of McCain played out before he committed suicide earlier this year, but there's a wild guess and some links here.

Hilary your list is an eye-opener!
What is more remarkable, that so many were in the swing originally or that so many have swung off?

Funny, I was just asking TheraP this morning if she knew of any site that was tracking all the McCain supporters that were bashing McCain...would be interesting to get a count.
