Sam Stein over at HuffPo interprets the failure of any republican to vote "yes" as a "rebuke" to Obama. WTF? Thick heads abound. Obama played the republicans like a fiddle. He made two separate visits to them on the Hill and made significant concessions to them in the bill. They still voted "no" and were outed as the obstructionist pigs they are. Further, the measure by which the vote won showed that they are no longer relevant in the House of Representatives. The bill passed handily without a single republican vote. That means we don't need them in the House at all for any reason. They can piss off. What's more, this gives the Dems in the Senate a rational basis to strip the measure of the unnecessary concessions that were made because they meant nothing anyway. All Obama needs is one republican vote, by my count, and apparently Olympia Snowe is planning to deliver it. Obama is, once again, a genius, and republicans can't find their pants. The media narrative (Andrea Mitchell was doing it too) that this was some sort of defeat for Obama is laughable. When did Sam Stein become such a moron?

JP Freire from the American Spectator just said on MSNBC:
"If McCain and the Republicans really did believe that it would help them to be raving racists we'd be seeing a lot more of this."
Wow. Shuster appeared to gasp (or cough). Admission that they only thing holding them back from calling Obama a N***** is whether it would help them.

At first, I was thrilled that Obama was going to Keating 5. What I should have seen coming is what is now happening: The media, in its ridiculous pursuit of balance, is now able to say that "both sides" are running the dirtiest campaign in history, that "both sides" are dredging up the past. Thanks to the media, racist references to "radicals" in Obama's past (even one who was radical when Obama was 8) and McCain-Palin rallies that are becoming violent and resembling KKK conventions are now morally equivalent (which is to say no worse) to McCain verifiable involvement in the bilking of people's life savings in his very relevant crusade to end all government regulation of the financial sector.
Seriously, Barbara Walters sees no distinction between people calling for the murder of Barack Obama at Palin rallies and Obama talking about Keating 5. Is this happening? Talk me off this ledge, someone. Articleman, are you out there?
Yesterday was such a good day. Please tell me this tide is not turning!

My first racial slur. How sweet. Just got called a N***** lover while standing in my front yard by two courageous teenage boys who yelled it while driving by at fifty. Why would they do that? Must have been the big Obama sign in my yard. This has been fun explaining to my six year old.
Gear up, boys, change is coming...

Why is New Hampshire so red? Are they the "Georgetown" style of conservatives McCain refers to? I am confused as to why this northeastern state is red, and am curious if someone can tell me. The latest poll is ridiculous, shows Obama headed for a double digit whooping. WTF?

October surprise? I am up late (12:30 my time) watching the Rachel Maddow re-run and NBC just broke in with news of a bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Yemen. Here we go with fear-of-terrorism as terrorism against the American voter. McCain's most valuable campaign asset and the RNC's favorite every-four-years boogey man, Osama Bin Laden, seems to be at it again. A little early this time, no? He must have read that most states have some form of early voting now.

If I have missed others bitching about this, please accept my apologies. Palin, in her disgusting speech yesterday at her son's fake deployment ceremony (which was scheduled for 9/11 for political purposes to assist the McCain/Palin campaign in its fraud on America, when in fact he isn't leaving for another month) said Iraq is to blame for 9/11. Gee, could have sworn even Dubya agrees Iraq had no role in 9/11. Keith is ready to jump out of his skin, because there is no good way to spin this. If she doesn't know, it means she has necessarily been living under a rock for four years. If she knows, she is a person who is incapable of speaking without lying. To say that is scary does not cover it. We need a new word. Honestly, is this really happening? Or am I going to wake up tomorrow morning to find that I drank too much gin and tonic the night before and this is all a dream?
