I am afraid that we have reached a point where the Republicans have made doublespeak completely accepted, even by the MSM.
McCain engages in it all the time, and he does not get challenged. Look at how, on a daily basis, he now attacks, and blames Senator Obama, and in the very next breath, says stuff such as: now is not the time to engage in the blame game.
The one that annoys me the most is the weak fact checking that the media engages in. They are always swathing at gnats, while giving the hornets free passage.
Take for example Sarah Palin's debate statement about if global warming is being caused by mankind's activities. The gist of what she said was, she did not know, and that it could be attributed to natural cyclical climate changes.
She then went on to talk up how we have to reduce carbon emissions, and get to the point of using clean green energy, that will greatly reduce mankind's carbon footprint on the planet. She did not put it in those exact words. but that is what she was calling for.
Here is where the Media BS detector should have gone off, but did not.
If Sarah Palin does not know, or fully agree, that global warming is caused by mankind's activities, then why is she laying out a plan to greatly curtail those activities.
Do you see what I mean. If you go to the Doctor, and he tells you that you do not have an infection, and he then writes you a bunch of prescriptions to suppress the infection, that he said you do not have, wouldn't you call him out.
Of course you would. Did you hear Gwen Ifill ,or any of the horde of post debate analysts, do so?
Sarah Palin does not fully believe that burning coal causes global warming, but she wants to stop burning coal so that we can reduce global warming. That is her position, and yet none of the chattering class have said; Huh?

to get the housing market restored within the next decade.
I support this move. I agree that it has to be done.I am not sure that it will work, but we had to try.
I view this bill as more of a placebo treatment, than an actual
solution. It is still all based on the trickle down principle: if we
purchase a large portion of the fat cats' bad purchases, then they will
trickle down the money we paid them, to the little guys.
I sure hope so, but I have my doubts. Here is why:
Why will they rush to give a lot of credit, to people who can not get it
now, after they have been burned with a lot of bad credit, and just
have lucked out by offloading it to the government. Are there
requirements in the bill that forces them to lend the money, trickle
down, if you will. or are they free to opt to treat it as profit, which
will improve their stock profiles and quarterly earnings reports.
I have heard a lot about limiting the golden parachutes for the
CEOs, but what about their stock options rewards. Do they get to keep
them. If they do, then that would tempt them to hold on to the new cash
influx, improve their assets profile, and thereby boost the value of
their stock options. Is there anything in the bill that prohibits them
from doing that.
As for all those housing mortgages that the government will be
taking ownership of. There is no way that those homes are going to
return to their full market values within the next ten years.
The reason why I say that is: Supply and demand. The reason why
there was a housing bubble is because too many people, who should never
have been ruled financially qualified to own a home, got one, and now
have left those homes empty. So you now have a situation where supply
far exceeds qualified demand. On top of that, getting a mortgage
approved will be almost impossible. Only those with the best credit
ratings will be capable of being approved, and the vast majority of
those people already own homes, and if they wish to move, they will not
be able to sell their current homes.
The housing market is going to be in the doldrums for at least a
decade, and only those with impeccable credit ratings will have any
chance to get a mortgage.
I support the bill, because we had to give it a try, and maybe it
will provide a modest placebo boost to the economy, but that is the
best we can hope for. It is not going to change the dynamics of supply
and demand, and we are stuck with far too many houses on the market,
compared to the qualified demand numbers.

Voted Twice For George W. Bush.
I want all those who
voted for George W. Bush, twice, to absolutely not vote. They owe it to
America to stay away from the polls on election day. If you voted for
Bush in 2000 but had come to your sense in 2004, then by all means go
vote. However all those who voted for Bush, again, you better not vote
this time. You are not to be trusted to make the right decision, and
America will not survive four more years of your stupidity.
Do
the right thing, the patriotic thing for your country. If you voted for
George W. Bush in both elections, quarantine yourself on election day,
and give the people, who know what they are doing, a chance to save our
nation.
That is how you can best serve the country, at this critical time. Thank you for your cooperation.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Department of Consumer
Protection warned consumers Wednesday not to eat "White Rabbit Creamy
Candy," imported from China and distributed by Queensway Foods Company
Inc. of Burlingame, Calif. The candy was found on several
Connecticut store shelves the week of Sept. 29 by agency food safety
inspectors and removed, agency Commissioner Jerry Farrell Jr. said.
Tests by the Connecticut Agriculture Experiment Station Laboratory have
determined that the product contains melamine, he said.Melamine
has been associated recently with contaminated infant formula and other
milk protein-containing products in China, as well as a major pet food
recall last year. The chemical is used in plastics manufacturing and as
an adulterant in foods to simulate protein.Consumers who have
White Rabbit candy should discard it immediately, Farrell said.
Individuals who have already consumed the candy and have questions
about its heath impact should consult their health-care providers, he
said.
Here is a link to my early blog alert warning about the problem with tainted food stuffs from China and urging consumers to read the food labels, and avoid buying any Halloween candy made in china.

Read all about how tought a debater Palin has proven to be.
You have been forewarned, so for the last time, stop lowering expectations for her.

On paper, the difference in experience on both domestic and foreign
policy is like the difference between shooting a bullet and throwing a
bullet. Unfortunately for Biden, if recent history is an indicator,
experience or a grasp of the issues won't matter when it comes to
debating Palin.
On April 17, 2006, Palin and I participated in a debate at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks on agriculture issues. The
next day, the Fairbanks Daily News Miner published this excerpt:
"Andrew
Halcro, a declared independent candidate from Anchorage, came armed
with statistics on agricultural productivity. Sarah Palin, a Republican
from Wasilla, said the Matanuska Valley provides a positive example for
other communities interested in agriculture to study."
On April 18, 2006, Palin and I sat together in a hotel coffee shop comparing campaign trail notes. As we talked about the
debates, Palin made a comment that highlights the phenomenon that Biden is up against.
"Andrew,
I watch you at these debates with no notes, no papers, and yet when
asked questions, you spout off facts, figures, and policies, and I'm
amazed. But then I look out into the audience and I ask myself, 'Does
any of this really matter?' " Palin said.

The Amazing Sarah Palin was listening to Joe Biden's US Senate speeches before he was ever a US Senator.
Joe Biden was elected to the US Senate in Nov. 1972 and was not sworn in to office until Jan 1973
Sarah Palin was born Feb. 11 1964, which made her just about nine years olds when Biden took office.
How old was Sarah when she claimed that she was listening to Joe Biden's senate speeches while she was "in second grade". Was Sarah held back for a year or two, or did she have the powers to hear Senator Biden's speeches before he made them.
Sarah Palin told Ms. Couric that she has a woman best friend, for the past thirty years, who is "gay". Then Palin adds, that is a choice that she made, that I would not.
Doesn't that mean that Palin actually considered being a Lesbian, since that is the only way that one can claim that she made a choice?
Sarah made a great choice not to personally use contraceptives, since her abstinence plan worked so well, and she got pregnant, out of wedlock, when she was twenty four years old. No wonder she does not want to provide sex ed classes for teenagers. She wants them to remain ignorant and careless into their twenties, just like her.
By the way; What sort of a Hockey Mom urges her teenagers to go skating on thin sexual ice, without any protective gear, or goal tending pads, plus no safeguards against High Sticking.... What happens when a player does not keep their Johnson in their Levis, and there is no penalty for high sticking, except a life long penalty on one's teenage daughter.

It might be time for America's leaders to study and learn from how other nations have acted.
What Ireland has just implemented, has made it far less likely that people will start a run on the banks.

Shares in Irish banks rose sharply today
after the Government placed an unlimited two-year guarantee on all
deposits and certain debt in six Irish banks in a move designed to
“safeguard the Irish financial system”.
The move comes two weeks
after the deposit protection limit of €100,000 was introduced by the
Government and follows yesterday's record losses for Irish financial
stocks, with Anglo Irish Bank shares falling 46 per cent. Banking
shares fell 26 per cent on the Iseq yesterday.
At close of business, the Iseq index of Irish shares was 7.87 per cent higher at 3,550.63, a rise of 259.11 points.
Anglo
Irish Bank, which was the hardest hit of Irish bank stocks yesterday
with a 46.2 per cent fall, recovered its losses closing up 67 per cent
at €3.84. Irish Life and Permanent shares were up 35.8 per cent at
€4.85, largely recovering the 38 per cent fall in its stock yesterday.
Bank of Ireland stock also rose, adding 20.7 per cent to €3.95,
regaining more than the 20 per cent loss in its share price yesterday.
AIB shares were also higher, rising 18 per cent to €5.90 by 5.30pm,
more than yesterday's 16.7 per cent loss.
At a press conference
in Dublin this morning, Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan explained
the move was designed to “secure the stability of our banking system”
as it was becoming increasingly difficult for banks to secure funds on
world markets.

Say it again Nancy; every time that the bill comes back for a vote. Never back down.
The republican leaders, including John Bonehead, slammed the hell out of the bill, while pretending that they were urging their members to vote for it. John Bonehead stood up there and called it "a mud sandwich" while claiming that he really really really wanted his republican colleagues to swallow it. Sure he did.
John Bonehead trashed the bill yesterday. You did not Nancy. You told the truth about what a mess George W. Bush, and his party have created.
Say it again Nancy. Say it again, and this time mention how the opposition leaders went on the floor to trash their president's bill, while pretending that they intended to back it.
Say it again Nancy.

Are you better of than you were eight years ago.
Look what Bush/McCain Fuzzy Math has accomplished. Now factor in how much less you can purchase with the dollar today, than you could eight years ago, and you will really get a true appreciation for how much Bush/McCain have drained the economic vitality from the nation, with their imbecilic invasion of Iraq, and their imbecilic de-regulation of all major financial operations.

The Republicans just took complete ownership of the coming recession/depression. They have blocked the Bush/Paulson package prescription.
If the patient now dies, then the Republicans are the ones who refused to fill the prescription that Bush/Paulson prescribed to save the patient.
The Democrats, on the other hand, are not the ones who made the patient sick, and who have now refused to take steps to let the doctor treat the patient.
What ever economic collapse that now takes place, is owned completely by the Republicans.
How does this make McCain's Campaign suspension, and debate cancellation stunt, and his White House photo-op now look.
It makes him look like a grandstanding wee drama prince, who did not get a damn thing accomplished; that is what it makes him look like.
Maverick my arse. That is just another name for a stupid stray calf that keeps getting lost in the brush and having to be rescued.

A word of caution about how Palin might do in the debate against Biden.
The McCain camp recently succeeded in getting the debate rules changed, and they ended up with ones much more favorable to some one who can just mouth a bunch of short sound bites. Palin can do that.
Here is a clip of her from one year ago, on the Charlie Rose show.
http://www.charlierose.com/shows/2008/09/06/1/charlie-rose-green-room-with-sarah-palin
Notice that she is very capable of speaking in short empty sound bites, which can fool a lot of people into thinking she knows what she is talking about.
The debate is going to have Palin just dealing from a prepared script, and she will not be pressed with any follow up questions. Keep in mind, this women read from a teleprompter, on a TV evening news program, so she knows how to deliver prepared lines, and how to look into a camera.
Heighten her expections level please. After all, she is a professional career TV person. Do you get my drift.
I expect Sarah Palin to do a fantastic job in the debate, because she is a TV professional.
Spread the word. A professional TV career woman should be expected to win a debate.
Settle for no less than that from Governor Palin.

Do not purchase any food products made in China. It is too risky.
Read labels, and avoid purchasing candy produced in China. It is too risky to hand out that stuff to children on Halloween. Look out for the kids, please.

At least 50,000 Chinese babies have been sickened and four killed by milk tainted with the industrial chemical.
Cadbury had earlier recalled 11 chocolate types from mainland
China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia because of fears of
contamination.
It remains unclear how much melamine was in the recalled products, a Cadbury spokesman told the BBC.
"It's early days, as these are preliminary findings from the tests," the spokesman said.

John McCain wants to always find a reason to behave as a maverick, and not seek common ground with the majority.
Obama seeks common ground. Since he first came to national attention in 2004, he has talked of one America.
Since that is how he always worked, in the Illinois legislature, and since he came to Washington, it is clear that will always work in that manner. That core principle of his, automatically leads him to find points of agreement and common ground with others. He did the same thing, in the primary, and particularly when debating Senator Clinton.
He is not a person who will pick false points of disagreement, in order to pick a false fight, just to score points. In other words; Obama is an authentic Uniter and not a Divider, unlike the person who first claimed to be.
McCain is the one who always seeks to divide. That is what his Maverick bragging reveals. When you boil it down, McCain is saying that he will always go against consensus, and is proud of always swimming against the tide. That alone makes him a terrible option for president.
He does not know how to compromise, and no President can do a good job without having the capacity to do so.
His latest stunt; deciding that he alone could cancel the debate, reveals that McCain is really an autocrat. All he ever will say is that he agrees with himself. You will never hear McCain say that Obama is right, or that he agrees with him on any point. McCain is actually more of a narcissist than George W. Bush, and that makes him far more dangerous.
You have heard Obama say: that he was wrong, and say that he made a boneheaded mistake, and say, I agree with that. McCain never admits to ever having been wrong, or his opponent ever been right.
Think about it folks. McCain's big claim to fame is that he has always been a Maverick. What that really means is: I, John McCain, am always right, and most other people are always wrong.
If you think that George W. Bush has been a disaster for the nation, elect John McCain as your President, and you will start to look back on the Shrub years, as the good old days.

Then, six days before the Aug. 26 vote, with the race looking close,
Palin broke her silence. Asked about the initiative at a news
conference, she invoked "personal privilege" to give an opinion. "Let
me take my governor's hat off for just a minute here and tell you,
personally, Prop. 4 -- I vote no on that," she said. "I have all the
confidence in the world that [the Department of Environmental
Conservation] and our [Department of Natural Resources] have great,
very stringent regulations and policies already in place. We're going
to make sure that mines operate only safely, soundly."
Palin's
comments rocked the contest. Within a day, the pro-mining coalition
fighting the referendum had placed full-page ads with a picture of the
governor and the word "NO." The initiative went down to defeat, with 57
percent of voters rejecting it.
Three days later, Palin was named Republican Sen. John McCain's
running mate, throwing Alaska into a media frenzy. But the fallout has
lingered from an episode that may stand as one of the most
consequential in Palin's 21-month tenure. The state ethics panel is
examining whether her comments violated the law against state advocacy
on ballot measures; it had already ruled that a state Web site was
improperly slanted toward mining interests.
