Palin has cited the proximity of Alaska to Russia as evidence of her international experience.
Hagel scoffed at that notion.
"I think they ought to be just honest about it and stop the nonsense
about, 'I look out my window and I see Russia and so therefore I know
something about Russia,'" he said. "That kind of thing is insulting to
the American people."

My Friends,
I am writing this clarification, from one of my countless lovely kitchen tables. As you may not be aware, I did not have a kitchen table for five and a half years, so I can relate to all those who are currently in fear of losing their only kitchen table. Gee, I don't know how I would cope, if I were to lose any of my seven or more tables. But I digress, but I just wanted you to know that I feel your pain.
I just wanted to clarify that Blackberry claim, that my campaign staffer made today.
As you all know very well, I know even less about telecommunications devices, than my Little Sarah Palin does about about science, biology, and foreign policy. So there is no way that I had anything to do with the creation of the Blackberry communication device.
That was a simple misunderstanding. My aide was just confused. I had once told him about how God had created Blackberries, in the Garden of Eden, back when I was there with my brothers Cain and the dead one, who's name I am no longer able to recall.
I sure used to love eating those succulent Blackberries, before Mom got us kicked out on her Asp.
Oddly enough, I can no longer enjoy Blackberries, in my diet, because they now give me loose stool, and the seeds keep getting stuck under my dentures.
Well, I will have some one type this into the computer, and shove it through the Internets. I hope it gets through them, and that you all receive it.
In closing; I want to assure you all that the fundamentals of the economy are very sound, because Cindy and I have no fear of losing any of her numerous palatial estates, and her many millions of dollars, so stop fretting. We are going to be just fine.
Well, it is Matlock time, once again, so I will conclude by urging you to vote for me, and Sarah from The Tundra. That one is a cool customer. I keep my beer cold, by placing it next to her heart. Don't tell her that I said that, or she will shoot me, and field dress me.

In a comment reminiscent of Al Gore's 1999 statement that he "took the
initiative in creating the Internet" during his time in Congress, John
McCain economic advisor Douglas Holtz-Eakin this morning suggested that
McCain deserves credit for helping create the handheld communications
device known as the BlackBerry.
"He did this," Holtz-Eakin, holding up his BlackBerry, said to
reporters after being asked what McCain did as Chairman of the Senate
Commerce Committee that led him to a better understanding of financial
markets,
Added Holtz-Eakin: "Telecommunications of the United States is a
premier innovation in the past 15 years, comes right through the
Commerce committee so you're looking at the miracle John McCain helped
create and that's what he did."

Scary Palin just get through telling Charlie Gibson, on camera, that the guy was not fired, but had actually quit!http://thepoliticalcarnival.blogspot.com/2008/09/palin-i-didnt-really-fire-monegan-he.html

TPM:In an extensive interview with
The New Yorker from before she was tapped for the VP slot, Sarah
Palin admitted she spoke to the state police commissioner about her
problems with her trooper ex-brother-in-law -- but then maintains the
commissioner wasn't actually fired by her, but instead quit in lieu of
taking an unrelated demotion.

Harkin himself spent a few minutes weighing in on the Republican
ticket. He said what troubled him most was Palin selling herself as a
conservative that has a track record of cutting wasteful government
spending.
“When I saw her get up and talk about all these earmarks, I said
‘Wait a minute, what’s going on here? Did I wake up in a parallel
universe?’ When she was mayor she got more earmarks for her town per
capita than any city in the United States of America,” he said. “This
February, as the governor, she requested $270 million in earmarks from
our committee.”
Harkin also took aim at the factual accuracy of claims Palin
continues to make about specific instances she rejected pork barrel
spending.
“She keeps saying she stopped that ‘Bridge to Nowhere’ -- not
true,” he said. “In November of 2006 Congress stopped the ‘Bridge to
Nowhere.’ Here’s the kicker -- she kept the money.”
Harkin concluded by saying Palin has “more earmarks than John McCain has houses.”
