Newt Gingrich: Public Enemy #1

The govt should immediately issue a restraining order demanding that Newt not be allowed to talk about Islam or Muslims in any way shape or form because he is trying to declare war and incite violence against our troops and the entire American population. He is declaring war on Islam as a would be presidential candidate. Clearly that has to be worse than burning a Qu'ran.

He is not only endangering our troops, he is endangering every American. They should shut down the showing of the movie across the country. And if Newt speaks publicly again about this, they should arrest him for violating the restraining order.

If the secretary of state, a general, and the president were concerned about stopping the public burning of the Qu'ran surely they should take immediate action against this clear incitement of violence and threat to our national security perpetrated by Newt.   Am I the only one who finds the release of Newt's 'declaration of war' film not getting the response it deserves compared to the response and executive attention given to the Qu'ran burnning dude?  Newt is a would-be presidential candidate inciting violence that could endanger all of us.

So homeland security and the department of justice must be about to move in and take action right?:   What would be happening right now if this movie was being released by a democrat would-be candidate for president?  Would the right encourage it or denounce him?  Where is the media blitz questioning Newt about inciting violence and the administrations' outcry about how he is endangering our troops?

I just find this too ironic...

CO Fire & Questions

I woke up at 3am because I had to shut my windows.  The smoke filled air had become too toxic.

http://www.denverpost.com/ci_16007854

Yesterday when I was out at the lake walking my dog Buddha a plume of smoke covered the sun making unusual shade.  As we were leaving I could tell that the smoke was coming from behind the foothills near where I live.  As I was driving home I could see ash falling from the sky.  Then I saw a car with flashing lights at the intersection of a road into the foothills near my house.  There was a man talking to people in their cars that had come down from the foothills.  On facebook a friend had posted that the sherrif said there were three fires and homes had been evacuated.  The wind had been so strong when we were at the lake I wondered if they merged into one.

I took Buddha to the dog park later and not much had changed still a plume of smoke covering the sun and ash falling from the sky.  There were other people there with their dogs but we did not talk about it.  Many people in the nearby park were taking pictures.  I saw a red plane go by and wondered if it was fighting the fires.  My daughter called to make sure I was okay and told me we were supposed to shut our windows.

Just now, waking up and actually shutting the windows because it had been too hot earlier, I took Buddha out to do his business and the plume appeared dispersed.  I could see the stars but the air was harder to breath... we came in quickly.

I looked online for news of the fire.  I saw a report saying that the fire had spread to 3500 acres and that 4 fire fighters had been relieved of duty because they lost their homes in this fire.  I saw news of evacuations all the way to 36 that would have included the house I live in but we've not heard any evacuation order and the fire is still behind the foothills.  There are evacuation shelters set up at the college and fairgrounds and a nearby church.  I read that FEMA has already responded and 35 different fire stations along with state resources are working on the fire.   There is a health warning I just found stating that if we can't stay inside with windows shut we should leave the area.  So for Buddha's sake I may go visit my aunt in Fort Collins today so that he can be outside and play and we can both breath easier.

The weird thing was that as I was looking at different reports I found facts were muddled.  One report stated 3500 homes were lost which is how many acres the fire was reported to have consumed.  Another stated that 200 homes were lost but no report of acres.  Among the various reports I started wondering how this happens?  This is like a game of operator.  Things get passed along and the original message changes.

I am curious about news media today.  How much is factual?  How often are the facts muddled and I never find out?  Are people being less careful with facts in general?  Is it just human error and is there a general percentage where the media gets it 'wrong' that we ought to be aware of?

I am aware that the in politics, the right most especially seems to have embraced a jedi mind tactic of saying things, no matter how false, that they want the public to believe .  If people read it in the paper or see it on television whether it is true or not... many seem to just believe.  Sometimes it can be something like getting the number of acres burned wrong etc. which is less damaging than a sitting governor promoting fear in her citizens by reporting false information about beheadings happening in their state that never happened. I just didn't expect to see facts so mixed up in different news stories as it serves no political purpose.  I found it interesting to observe as I am trying to get some report of real conditions on the ground here.

Has the media become less reliable than it used to be?  Or have I just not been paying attention all along?  Or have they just widened the field of what they consider reliable sources which may not be so reliable? For example, I hope that other news sources have once and for all determined that FOX News running with a story does not indicate that it is factual and therefore still needs to be fact checked, case and point Shirley Sherrod.

Jan Brewer: Disgusting Human Being

What kind of leader scares the crop out of their citizens by lying to them that they are being overrun by illegal immigrants that are cutting people's heads off?

Jan Brewer

(if you were thinking George Bush and WMD's, well yeah, good comparison and it makes my point)

What kind of slimy, disgusting worm of an appointed, unelected governor stirs up hatred and fear in her fellow citizens in order to make a dime and keep her 'power'?  ... yes, it's' her again.

What kind of unamerican, fear mongering, old woman passes laws that stir up hate and division in our country so that her friends (campaign manager et al) can make a buck in the private prison business?

"Gov. Jan Brewer's campaign chairman and policy adviser is also a lobbyist for the largest  private prison company in the country."  http://www.kpho.com/news/24834877/detail.html

How sick of a person would you have to be to tell your people that they should be afraid of illegal immigrants cutting their heads off and then when called on your lie you reply:

"That was an error, if I said that," the Republican told The Associated Press on Friday. "I misspoke, but you know, let me be clear, I am concerned about the border region because it continues to be reported in Mexico that there's a lot of violence going on and we don't want that going into Arizona."

"Brewer apparently first referred to beheadings during a June 16 interview with Fox News, talking about "the kidnappings and the extortion and the beheadings and the fact that people can't feel safe in their community" in discussing controversy surrounding the immigration law."  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/04/jan-brewer-admits-she-was_0_n_705722.html

WHAT!!!

If she said it?!  No apology.  No ownership of creating mass hysteria throughout the country based on her outrageous, sick lie?!

Looks like she goes to the school of 'once you tell a lie... just keep lying about it.'  Probably in the political handbook somewhere.

____________

Some interesting info on illegal immigration under President Obama:

on the crackdown on illegal immigration http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/07/26/politics/washingtonpost/main6715205.shtml

on the decrease in illegal immigration http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0910/41685.html

Our country has gone through so much pain, fear, and division generated by a disgusting person like Jan Brewer...   for political power and profit of friends. How much of this garbage are we going to put up with in this country?!

Have the sick actions of Bush/Cheney and the constant barage of FOX News insanity, and corrpution so desensitized us to lies that hurt our nation so completely that national outrage is just repressed or fizzled and this sick woman gets to get elected as governor of AZ?  Are you kidding me?!

What is going on in this country?

I recommend everyone send a donation, however small, if you can to her opponent, Terry Goddard in AZ and send her an email letting her know how you feel about what she has put the entire nation through for her self serving purposes.     - end rant.

Can Justin Coussoule Beat John Boehner?

I don't have a lot of money but I will give $5 for the 'chance' to defeat Boehner.

The thought of Rep. John Boehner of Ohio running the show in congress is repulsive.

Here is another link of a recent Q & A with Justin.

When asked the question of how he is faring in the polls he states that no one ever does polls there as Boehner hasn't had a serious challenger in 20 years.

Beyond Paradox: Painting With A Broader Palette

"Problems cannot be solved at the same level of consciousness that created them," says Albert Einstein

The places where we are fixed in our mind and perception are interesting.  We may be focused on compassion vs personal responsibility, liberal vs. conservative, etc..  When we look at a wooden sculpture we may be feeling into its curves or perhaps noticing the hardness of its structure.  What compels us to have the sorts of experiences that we do.  Why do we get drawn in to see the world so differently? Or so similarly?

I was once at a talk with Rabbi Mark Gafni and Ken Wilber.  A young man in the audience asked a question, 'How do you know when to serve'.  I am paraphrasing according to my memory but I think I have it down pretty accurately.  Rabbi Gafni said something that I believe about life, 'There is no one way.  You have to be present in the moment (to see, know, discern, feel, etc.).  In one moment it may be appropriate to give one man $100 and in another moment it may be appropriate to give one hundred men one dollar.'  I think the answer to many questions is 'there is no one way.   I need to be present to see what is really appropriate in the moment.'

This is something I have been learning about.  Life is generally much more complex than breaking things down to ideas that 'all republicans are racists' or that 'all liberals are wasteful'.  And when we settle ourselves that way, it seems we sometimes paint the world via the lens we have chosen so it just keeps making us more and more certain that we are wearing the right glasses.  'See... there's the proof' I say as I look through my people who x are x lens.  Well, it works some of the time.  But then some of the time we may not be seeing what's actually, really there because our lenses screen it out and we feel comfortable in them.  What we experience in them represents what we know and understand.

All of us have gifts to share/contributions to make 'and' most of us also have much to learn, a varied array of things in life that we are ignorant of.  In my perception we can't know it all but we can learn from each other.  I believe we are naturally drawn to the things we most need to learn about... sometimes to my own dismay when it is challenging.  And at the same time our beliefs and filters are determining what we are able to view and it becomes more limited.  This is another type of paradox that holds us until our beliefs and filters start to include the validity of both sides of the paradox and allow the wholeness of the concepts.  I am liberal and conservative, for example.  I need both in different ways at different times etc.

Moving beyond paradox gives us a wider palette of colors to paint with or a wider array of lenses and filters to view the world with.  Sort of like changing the world from black and white to full color.

If problems cannot be solved at the same level of consciousness that created them, as Einstein said,

then as the Sister Hazel song goes, 'if you want to be somebody else, if you're tired of fighting battles with yourself, if you want to be somebody else, change your mind.'

I can't know everything.  I can't do everything. I probably can't understand everything.  But I can know a little more, do a little more, and understand a little more and experience even more 'color' in life.
