You can have our senator, thanks...
Apparently Senator Salazar of my home state of CO will be President Elect Obama's Secretary of Interior. He is a conservative, middle of the road type of senator and I have continually been frustrated with him (especially because our other Senator was Wayne Allard, another sort of milktoast, tow the line republican).
So, overall I am happy that the state of CO will get a new democratic senator and I am hoping it will be someone with more fire and passion. For once I'd like to see CO with it's own Ted Kennedy/Dick Durbin type leader in congress. Mark Udall, our new democratic senator replacing Senator Allard, is a step forward but still not the champion, fire in the belly character I am wishing for.
At first I thought Salazar was a weird choice for Secretary of Interior but I think that he represents PE Obama's desire to have a moderate/consersative person in this post that will most likely disappoint or frustrate both business and environmentalists and hold the tension between competing interests pretty well. I hope that Salazar will shine as Secretary of Interior and that this will be good for the country and a win for CO in the form of a new Senator.

Wayne Allard was not a milktoast. He was one of the 9 scum-sucking Senators who voted against McCain's anti-torture amendment to the FY 2006 Defense Appropriations bill on October 5, 2005.
A U.S. Senator who votes against an anti-torture resolution deserves everlasting ignominy.

I certainly agree but if you've ever seen and heard Wayne Allard you would understand why I call him milktoast his votes are ignorant and contemptuous but his demeanor and his lack of substance or wisdeom can put people to sleep.
