In reflecting on my perception that stripping Senator Lieberman of his chairmanship has nothing to do with revenge but instead is about expressing healthy boundaries, I started comparing offering no consequences for his behavior to an abused wife staying with her husband with no consequences, no changes.

This got me thinking about our congress and our country and the abuse we have endured the past 8 years.  I don't know if any of you have thought about this but the democrats and many republicans in congress very much resembled an abused or helpless partner in many ways.  They were for the most part impotent, at least the first 6 years, to express healthy boundaries. 

I kept wondering over all of the years why they weren't fighting back and working to hold the adminstration accountable?  Why weren't they expressing healthy boundaries?  It reminds of battered wives sydrome or something like that. 

Recently they allowed themselves to be rushed into giving Paulson tons of money and broad authority and he's pretty much going to do whatever he wants.  I asked for real oversight.  Co-signers, members of congress, in on the purchases and sales and all uses of the funds.  But they jumped and now congress feels abused....

So to hear Senator Bayh say, well let's just make him(Senator Lieberman) apologize and he can keep all of his power and authority in the senate.  As I've said elsewhere... that's like giving the guy who hit you a big stick to hit you with later. 

If there was any doubt in my mind about how active I will have to remain to help bring about change, it is gone.  I was abused as a kid.  I stopped the person abusng me.  I demand healthy boundaries.  I will not accept abuse.  I think we have a healthy president coming into power but the congress has really unhealthy patterns that need to change.
