A Letter to a Vice Presidential Candidate
Dear Governor Palin,
I am writing with the knowledge that after I post my blog there will not be a warrant for my arrest and there will not be a government underling knocking at my door. I am able to write this--criticizing you--on this blog website for the public to read because of my First Amendment rights.
Today, I saw you made some comments along the lines of, "If [the media] convince enough voters that that is negative campaigning, for me to call Barack Obama out on his associations, then I don't know what the future of our country would be in terms of First Amendment rights and our ability to ask questions without fear of attacks by the mainstream media."
Listen. I know you have some difficulty grasping certain concepts, like the fact that you think as Vice President you will have control over the Senate. This, however, crosses my line. Just as you have the right because of the First Amendment to make idiotic comments like the one above, the media has every right to associate you and negative campaigning because of their First Amendment rights. You are essentially worried about your First Amendment rights just because the media has chosen to exercise their own? Let me give you this little refresher that you may have forgotten since 6th grade Social Studies class.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an
establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or
abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably
to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Today, you made me angry. But, I suppose the silver lining in all of this is that I heard about the comments you made, from media attacks all through the blogosphere. Furthermore, the mainstream media, like ABC, is reporting what you have said--questioning your questions on the First Amendment.
I will be the first to admit that I think the media makes mistakes: In their coverage of certain topics, that they don't always look at the most important issues, or delve into the important issues enough. But, alas, that is their right, and I am thankful for the freedom our media has in this country to do just that.
Sincerely,
Laurie Guilmartin

What Sarah needs to learn is that the Constitution protects her right to be as stupid as she is. She can say anything except "Fire!" in a crowded theater.
Actually, Sarah has so much to learn that some home-schooling is in order. I think she'll have plenty of time to address it, but unfortunately she doesn't even know where to start -- she is so woefully ignorant, it would be like starting with the alphabet to educate her.
Her problem is that she isn't desirous of education; she has no intellectual curiosity; she can just spout negatives with a smile -- a perfect republican stooge. She is trainable, but not educatable.

"Let me give you this little refresher that you may have forgotten since 6th grade Social Studies class."
I kinda get the feeling she was on a junior varsity basketball trip and forgot to get the notes from that day.
