A recent article in The Atlantic about what we all really suspected about airport security, yet nobody really ever questions or acknowledges because of some sort of acceptance of our plot:

http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200811/airport-security

Airport security in America is a sham—“security theater” designed to make travelers feel better and catch stupid terrorists. Smart ones can get through security with fake boarding passes and all manner of prohibited items—as our correspondent did with ease.

I recently had to go through the whole emasculating rigamarole in Hawaii. I mistakenly assumed that TSA had lightened up on the whole "liquids" restriction and innocently tried to bring through some sunblock and some juice in my carry-on bag. The security guards not only confiscated my stuff -- without questioning whether I wanted to finish my juice before I walked through -- they also celebrated by high-fiving each other for another "catch", then talked down to and patronized me by scolding me as if I were a child.

Let me tell you something -- deep down inside me, I wished something very bad upon those security guards. I feel dirty now, but at that moment I felt humiliated and wanted to retaliate somehow.

Although I believe a McCain/Palin presidency would be very bad for the U.S., I don't think that anybody believes it would lead to the "end of days". There are enough sane actors in this country to prevent total disaster, especially in the current environment.

But, I do think it would be more along the lines of a deadlocked nation unwilling to recognize its mistakes, realizing no real progress resulting in a slow, debilitating malaise that gradually eats away at the U.S.'s financial, military and cultural power as nations like China and Russia slowly rise in power at our expense.

I think we are useful to countries like China in the same sense that detritus is useful to fungi.

I am actually thankful that Bachmann finally had her "breakout" moment. Its moments like these that finally shine the light on these cockroaches and allow the entire country to see just what the "base" of the Republican party looks like and supports -- because it just not something that gets done well enough by the MSM.

Moments like these are what finally brings the question to the American people: "Are you for this type of thinking, or are you against it?"

Sometimes, when I see stuff like that coming out of my country, somewhere deep inside me, I wonder if Obama and/or Hillary decided to run 4 years too early.

Maybe we still need another 4 years of Republican reign to finally bring our great nation crumbling into civil and financial destruction before we are prepared to recognize the true nature of the modern GOP and make a change. Maybe if Obama wins the election by anything less than 60% percent of the popular vote, he should just concede to McCain...

But then I think about all the good, honest, hard-working people who would be most adversely affected by 4 more years of GOP rule and I snap out of it.

However, I think if I were China, Russia or Iran, I'd probably be rooting hard for McCain and holding out for some sort of disastrous event to take Obama out of the race.

A comment from MyDD:

"terrorist tongue jab"

Here's the hilarious thing: The field of Republicans this year was so terrible and so lame that they weren't able to cull this all out during the Primary. In other words, this was the best they could offer.

So Hillary and her supporters were right. Her tough campaign perfected Obama for the General election and by being so tough, made a hack like McCain a cakewalk.
