Gov. Sanford, please shut up.
Somebody has to help this guy. It's no fun watching him continue to set himself on fire.
I suggest that he say this.
"I resign. I will not answer any more questions about my personal life."

Yeah, the whole "I'm trying to fall in love with my wife again" thing really is pathetic. So sure that's going to work out. My wife would say "If you have to try, thanks but no thanks. Adios, prick."
As for the state of South Carolina, I don't understand why they haven't already booted him out. Seriously, the guy couldn't control himself and went AWOL for how many days? He is clearly not in command of his faculties and has no business on the bridge. Time for a leave of absence, or something.

Gov. Sanford, please keep talking, confess to more indiscretions, and remind everyone at every turn that you are a Republican.

There's a saying in politics - "Never try to commit homicide on someone who's committing suicide."
Occasionally, I have a twinge of sympathy for the human side of Sanford, but he clearly should resign or be relieved of duty. However, members of his own party are already pressing him to do that, knowing that if he stays, they will all be weakened.
I believe those efforts are best left to them, lest those who oppose him on political grounds are perceived as mean-spirited, when there is no need for them to make public statements.

I went but I had the feeling Cash was singing about addiction to drugs hurt.

Yes, addiction was part of it, but "hurt" was the word he used in this Trent Reznor song to describe the pain he had caused others, including those he loved. I didn't mean to imply that the song was directly relevant to Sanford, but for anyone interested in Johnny Cash, it presented a side of him far more emotionally compelling than the material he performed when he was younger.

South Carolina is the home of two of the single worst human beings in American History:
John C. Calhoun and
Strom Thurman
It attempted to secede under Jackson, and managed to secede before Lincoln even took office.
Those people are nuts. Why do you think they even have a North Carolina. Even most Carolinians do not like South Carolina.
