You can read my book "Competing for Capital: Europe and North America in a Global Era" (Georgetown University Press, 2000), which is about competition for investment and how we can try to control it. I have a new book coming out probably in a year on investment incentives (often pure "corporate welfare") worldwide.

And another thing: the fact that there was no ADA in the 1960s didn't make depression any less serious a disease than it is today. Plus, there was a whole lot more social stigma to it during the 1960s. If he got treatment for depression, it carried a lot more social risk for him than taking four quaalude and smoking some pot.

I have to disagree. Depression is covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act. If you were treated for depression in the 1960s, I'd wager it would have to have been pretty serious. Think Tom Eagleton, who got "disqualified" for running for Vice President because of it.

Unless Markos has proof that Tancredo's claim was false, he should apologize.
