Wingnuts Gone Wild: "Psychiatrist" says liberals are mentally ill
WingNutDaily.com is promoting a book by an alleged psychiatrist, Dr. Lyle Rossiter, titled "The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness". He compares liberals to spoiled, angry children who rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave.
Rossiter also says the kind of liberalism being displayed by both Barack Obama and his Democratic primary opponent Hillary Clinton can only be understood as a psychological disorder:
"The roots of liberalism - and its associated madness - can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind. When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious."
I guess the good doctor implies that liberals are the ones who defend "imaginary victims" such as embryonic stem cells, American families, pregnant teenagers, gun owners, wealthy taxpayers and big corporations from "imaginary villains" like Planned Parenthood, homosexuals, godless atheists, secular humanism, the mainstream media, Hollywood producers, unionized workers, welfare queens, the National Education Association and Sarah Brady.

Liberals have mental defects? Was this written recently or is it something translated from German, say around the time of the Holocaust?

This obviously irrational liberal wonders why the WingNut Daily (love it!) is just now promoting a book that was published in Oct. 2006.
Still practicing irrationality, I also wonder how Rossiter knew to focus on Barack Obama before Oct. 2006, when (then) Sen. Obama did not announce his candidacy until February 2007.
Just my painfully neurotic mind making things up, I guess.

- Fitness to Stand Trial: Fitness to stand trial requires that a defendant understand the nature and purpose of the legal proceedings against him and be able to cooperate with counsel in his defense. To understand the proceedings, a defendant must be able to comprehend the charges against him and the penalties if convicted. He must also have at least a minimal understanding of courtroom procedure and the functions of those who participate in it. To cooperate with counsel he must be able to plan a legal strategy, be able to recall pertinent facts and events, including his motives and actions at the time of the offense, and be able to testify in his behalf and challenge prosecution witnesses. My function in these cases is to determine whether or not a mental disorder or defect precludes this understanding and cooperation. Usually a written report submitted to the court suffices, but from time to time my testimony is needed.
- Legal Insanity: The much publicized legal insanity defense is much more often attempted than successful. When asked for an opinion, I first determine by examination and review of records whether a defendant's mental or emotional state at the time of the alleged offense meets the threshold requirement for a major mental disease or defect. Then I have to render an opinion as to whether that condition substantially impaired the defendant's ability to appreciate the wrongfulness of the act for which he is accused of some crime, or whether his condition substantially impaired his capacity to conform his conduct to the requirements of the law, or both. Note that the concept of legal insanity is very different from the concept of clinical psychosis. In reports and testimony I present detailed evidence that the defendant's clinical mental state either does or does not satisfy the legal definition of insanity.
- Mitigating Factors at Sentencing: Typically, in these cases, a defense attorney will ask me to assess his client's personal history and determine whether or not congenital, intellectual, educational, socioeconomic, or developmental injuries or deprivations have predisposed the defendant to commit a crime. These findings may then be offered to the court in an effort to reduce the severity of the sentence imposed on the defendant.
- Postconviction Matters: I have consulted in several cases involving death row inmates to determine whether their rights were violated at the time of their arrest, detention, trial or sentencing. I have examined defendants who were unfit for trial because of the effects of psychotropic medicine, or who were inadequately represented regarding a possible insanity defense at trial or with respect to factors in mitigation at sentencing. These cases require detailed analysis of police reports, detention records and transcripts of testimony, and interviews of the defendant and pertinant witnesses.
=====================(his reference to a 'pert in ant" in 2nd to last word above
is slightly provocative to me...)
Given that Rossiter is a recognized courtroom expert witness in Illinois, including Cook County, and he asserts that liberals that liberals are mentally ill, in extreme cases even suffering from psychopathy, Blagojevich's attorneys should call him as an expert witness for his defense, and if Rossiter refuses, subpoena him as a hostile witness.

I knew some pert sows in me time, but methinks the descriptor in regards to family Formicidae is far reaching at best. That said, Blago's defense council would be negligent not to subpoena him.
