The RNC spent $150K on Palin clothes and accessories

Not only do they buy the Caribou Barbie, they are now paying big bucks to dress the barbie. This all seems like playing house for McCain and his new bride and not a politican campaign for the Presidency of the United States of America! The highest office in the world and you have to use campaign funds to dress a candidate? How low can you go before you bottom out?

Jeanne Cummings has an amazing find amid the new FEC reports.   Initially, the McCain-Palin campaign declined to comment on how, in the words of spokeswoman Maria Comella, "strategic decisions regarding how financial resources available to the campaign are spent."

But late tonight, the campaign decided to do just that, putting out a statement from spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt saying: "It was always the intent that the clothing go to a charitable purpose after the campaign."

The Republican National Committee appears to have spent more than $150,000 to clothe and accessorize vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her family since her surprise pick by John McCain in late August.

According to financial disclosure records, the accessorizing began in early September and included bills from Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York for a combined $49,425.74.

The records also document a couple of big-time shopping trips to Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, including one $75,062.63 spree in early September.

The RNC also spent $4,716.49 on hair and makeup through September after reporting no such costs in August.

At first I thought this was a non-issue, but after reading about it I realized that it is not. It's funny how in American politics issues that come across as trivial at first end up seriously affecting the race; and some serious issues are more or less ignored for the most part.

Is FAUX News Covering this story? This has got to piss off their average viewer, who, according to independent media research, makes about $150K over a three year period.

It obviusly took a lot more than lipstick to clean up this hockey mom/Pitbull in Disguise.

Sounds like she got field dressed by a Bull Moose wannabe.

It's the bulls**t hypocrisy that makes it fun.

remember the two $400 haircuts got?

well, Palin has been getting a $440 hairdo every single day during the month of September.

Read about her $13,200 makeup bill in my post

Is this just her patriotic way of trying to boost the economy?

Seems the days of 'respectable Republican cloth coats' are a thing of the (Nixonian [see 'checkers speech]) past.

But Palin probably sees her need for an upscale wardrobe in the same light as the 'need' for the people of Alaska paying for her daughters junkets to NYC and so on.

If she ever puts her hand on a bible to take a public oath, I'm outta here.
