Bravo Stewart
I'd say Jon Stewart should get the higest journalistic award of the land, but people like David Gregory end up getting those. And Jon doesn't deserve to be among those morons.
David Letterman didn't wait a minute or didn't waste a second in unraveling Palin and Campaign suspension hoaxes before the election and now Jon Stewart held a mirror for CNBC and to the likes of Cramer and Santelli.
All I can say is true journalism is still alive but only in unexpected places.
I never thought I could be a bigger fan of Stewart. Bravo.

Agreed. That was a ripping to be remembered. I figured this would be more like the usual interviews. What a pleasant surprise!

I was pleasently surprised, how collected and somber Jon Stewart remained.
Thanks, in less measure, because of viral blogging online, this interview will attain the status of American classic.
Isn't it interesting, last few great journalistic ventures came from SNL, Letterman and Stewart. Apart from Couric/Palin interview, nothing in "serious" news made any real positive impact in almost a decade.

It was an Emmy moment, for sure.

But Wall Street was using people's 401k's to lever themselves up? Either Stewart is dumb or he's just trying to pander to his audience and boost the ratings.

Bill, you might want to watch part 3 of the unedited video, on Comedy Central and now on my blog. At the 7:25 mark, Jim Cramer admitted that a lot of people "stole a lot of money from your 401k and mine."
And it goes without saying: Jon Stewart is NOT dumb. Far from it.

MCB really isn't a troll. He is just a misinformed republican with a particular dog in this race. He backs up his talking points with more talking points instead of facts, but it is because he can't do any better. Not the same as a troll, who just posts to wreak havoc.

I did watch it. Stewart is a comedian and Cramer is an entertainer/reporter. Not a regulator.
Cramer is agreeing with Stewart that people did dumb things which made the stock market go down and that hurt people's 401k's. And he was probably referring to Madoff and the other fraud cases.
But that's very different than the dumb comment that Stewart made which is that institutions used people's savings to lever themselves up. That's just non-sense. I may not be quoting him perfectly but that was the gist of it.
You can probably find the exact quote since you did such a great play-by-play

Bill - sorry I'm kind of on your case, here. But, again, what's the argument behind this
"the dumb comment that Stewart made which is that institutions used people's savings to lever themselves up."
Please EXPLAIN!

Dear Obey,
After reading Bill's comments in, at least, 3 (Jon Stewart) threads, I'm fairly convinced he's a troll. Forget him.

I just scanned the diaries Bill has posted. I would tend to agree with your assessment. Not that troll meat can't be good for sharpening the teeth of your own arguments on issues. :)
Part of the reason I never censor trolls on my own Blog. I just expose their arguments. Good practice for the real world.

Uhhhh . . .
People like our fellow Cafe member and hedge-fund person MiddleClassBull are not trolls. Just ask them, and they'll sell you a complete bill-of-goods.
Anyone interested in buying a shiny new vacuum with all the bells and whistles?
ps: Carlin was only a comedian . . .
