Letter to GOP Faithful
Dear GOP Faithful,
For many years the Republican Party held the majority. In that time, Republicans failed to hold hearings, failed to question the president and his policies, and failed in its oversight responsibilities. Republicans and their supporters all too often looked the other way during Republican scandals, taking a total of 12 hours of sworn testimony on the abuses at Abu Ghraib, yet logging 140 hours of sworn testimony into whether former president Clinton had used the White House Christmas card list to identify potential democratic donors.
The abuses of power by the Republican Party are many, far too many to list here. It should be noted however, that Republican supporters share some responsibility in failing to hold their party leaders accountable. In putting the interests of your party ahead of the country, you casually explained away the unexplainable, and often defended the indefensible. You must face the reality that the country is in this current predicament largely because you nodded your approval to the outrageous policies while closing your eyes to the corruption.
In recent months, some republicans have come out of their hiddie-hole to offer their many insights and criticisms of Barack Obama, the Democratic Party, and democrats in general. As an American, it is your right and patriotic duty to offer your criticism of political leaders whenever you wish. Unlike those from your party, no one from the Democratic Party will ever question your patriotism. However, when you do express your criticism of Sen. Obama and democrats, take no offense if few listen to your new-found patriotic voice.
