Ive heard this nonsense as well (Cornyn). I guess they've settled on this terminology so that they can say that all those years they were in power, the weren't ignoring health care reform they were slowly, thoughtfully considering it. Or maybe they're preparing the debate to begin coining Democratic Senators as "Activist" Senators.

I've been coming to TPM for a long time, and while, yes, you can find dumb comments on any blog and this why anecdotes are not rules, I totally disagree with the notion that TPM is some left wing version of Robert's comment. (Which is by any measure unstable, and maybe insane.) I would not be here if it was. Neither would the two smart people who commented above you. (Very smart, given the comments.)

I agree. I think Palin is perfectly poised to start a third party, or a splinter Republican party in 2012.

These people don't even know what they want, they speak in vague hyperbole. Could anything be more poignant than an organizer walking about dressed like Thomas Paine?

Palin is their ideal candidate. She has no plan, no actionable ideals, no system of governance or grasp of policy. She is perfect.

(I am not implying, by the way, that this third party thing would do very well. I imagine it would be about like Wallace's presidential runs.)

I think the 1st question is interesting as well. As in so many of her statements you can sort of hear the caterwauling that led up to it. Obviously her and Meg and Todd probably sat around bemoaning why they are being bashed while so and so got a free ride? But who are the so and so's? I, like you, am stumped.

But then, given her frequent sports referencing and her inability to differentiate between two unlike things, I began to think that she might not be limiting her thoughts on this to politicians. (I know she says "finishing a term," but that's her secondary point, classic finessing of a bait and switch.)

So if we include sports figures who might've retired a few years earlier than expected to be with family or maybe business figures who retired early or left to join religious groups or whatever, maybe we can see better what she's referencing. And any insight into her psyche is worth the price of admission, yes?
