Prop 8
It's upsetting to see that 70% of African-Americans voted for Prop 8, banning gay marriage in California. I think this issue has probably more to do with class than with race, but its still upsetting that in the same election that put the first African-American in the White House we still have civil rights arbitrarily being denied to Americans, just as they were to African-Americans for so much of American history. I hope this ruling is overturned but I have no doubt that justice will someday be served.

As reported by a few bloggers on TPM, the defeat of Prop.8 is a bit more complex than the number quoted above. Just look about the Map of Prop 8 and it shows just the surface of the complexity. It will take a longer deeper look to see how and why it lost.
