One More Attept to Smear Obama with the Socialist Label

This article on National Review Online has received a lot of play today. It's an 8-year old interview on Chicago's public radio station with law professor and state senator Obama.

The right is trying to portray this as a smoking gun when it comes to Obama's desire to redistribute wealth.

Any reasonable person will listen to this and hear that Obama is speaking in historical terms, as a law professor, pointing out that the courts are not the proper channel for wealth redistribution. It's a purely academic discussion, and not at all advocating for redistribution.

The problem here is it's a very nuanced interview, and will be very easy to take out of context and portray Obama as a radical who advocates for reparations and/or redistribution as part of the civil rights movement.

McCain on Meet the Press - He Did Well

Here's a link to John McCain on "Meet the Press."

As much as I hate to admit it, he did really well. His message is much better now, pounding away at Obama on taxes (though he misrepresents Obama's tax plans) and stirring fear around an all Democratic White House, Senate, and House.

McCain Staffers in Orlando Go Off on Reporter

This is probably not something the McCain campaign is too happy about getting out there.

It’s a campaign manager in Orlando preventing a reporter from recording questions of paid “volunteers” for the campaign.
