One of my few media moments of fame came from standing during the anti-apartheid demos at Cal side by side with some technician from KQED,. As a result, the voiceover for numberless teasers for the resulting documentary had me chanting “Hey hey; ho-ho, apartheid has got to go.”
I share this personal tidbit to vouchsafe my credentials as an anti-apartheid maven (as it were…).
DIVESTITURE scares Israel shitless. It becomes an immediate zero-sum moral vote for every trustee, governing board, city council, blah blah blah.
It is time.

I suppose it merely gilds the lily to recall that during the first apartheid era, South Africa had no better friend in the world than Israel...
Backstory:I didn't know I was the voiceover till my daughter, who was five at the time, hearing the promos for the documentary kept insisting "Daddy, that's you!".
I, of course, (because you never sound to yourself the way you hear yourself) insisted churlishly that she had to be mistaken; it took me a few days to realize she was right.
