Worst job in the world right now
The worst job in the world right now, today, this week, has to be head of marketing at AIG. I'm very glad I am a million miles away from there, because you couldn't pay me enough to work in that department.
Actually, you could, but I would have to get a bonus just for showing up every morning, and I don't think that would be very likely. I would also need my daily therapy sessions covered 100%. I would also need monthly vacations at a resort/spa, and, again, not very likely.
AIG has spent years developing a reputation as a sober, competent insurance company, and for the most part, that might very well be what it is. My impression is that the insurance company, apart from the Financial Products group, is still doing well. But that's a message that sure ain't gonna resonate with very many Americans right now.
I've been reading other blogs throughout the net and it seems many people claim to have worked for AIG over the years. Few had good things to say about the experience. One guy said, "they were as arrogant 15 years ago as they are today." The face they presented to the public may have been sober and competent but I'm not so sure if that were ever the case.
As far as taking the job, for a guaranteed 6.5 mil bonus I'd take it. Hell, I'd even be agreeable to the government taxing the entire amount at 90%.:)
