John McCain's conditional support of the troops
Cindy McCain made a unfair accusation against Obama, when she said that he did not support the troops due to a no vote on funding the Iraq War. But her husband also voted no on the original Democratic bill that included a time table for the withdrawl of American forces. Then Cindy McCain stated that Obama should visit the troops leaving for Iraq, but maybe John McCain needs to visit the wounded in the VA hospitals. The IAVA has given John McCain a D on his voting record when it comes to helping veterans. John McCain has been absent when it comes to supporting our troops as is detailed by Paul Rieckhoff's TPM blog. McCain only seems to support the troops when it comes to abstract neo-conservative causes such as the war in Iraq or wanting a future war with Iran. But when it comes to dealing with soldiers, who are wounded, with PTSD, or the hardships of their families, McCain does not seem to care.
