The Insane Good Luck of Sen Obama

Okay, I'm probably writing out of my ass right now, but bear with me.

When Obama ran for Senate, he was originally running against Jack Ryan.  (no, not the Tom Clancey one)But then it came out about the sex clubs and what not and he had to drop out.  Then the Illinois Republican Party had the good
sense to nominate Alan Keyes in his place.  Alan Keyes.  Yep.  So, yeah lucky.
Now fast forward to now.  You're Barack Obama.  You're running for president.  Things are working great.  Looks like you are going to get the nod.  But you have this problem...  This big problem.  You've got a crazy minister.  Like John Brown crazy. Okay, well this sh*t is going to come out.  You know it will. Well then, when would be the best time for it to come out?  The year of fundraising and appearances?  The many months of campaigning and debating before Iowa? The months of primary after primary where every gaffe can kill you on Super Tuesday or Super Duper Tuesday or Potomac Tuesday or That One Other Tuesday?  Ooh, how about right at the Democratic Convention?  Or better yet, during the General?  When the Republicans are bearing down hard.  The nation is watching.

No, instead the whole crazy minister thing comes out in the small window where he's technically battling it out with the last other running candidate even though he has the whole thing pretty much mathematically locked up.  It would be like if Gennifer Flowers came out right when Gov Clinton has the nom locked but Jerry Brown was still kicking around, causing trouble.

He's ahead by by 133.  There are only 693 left on the table.  I'm notone to believe in jinxing it by saying it.  He has the sh*t locked.

And therefore, having this stuff come out now, out of all the years he's been running for Senate, running for the Presidency, it comes out during the best possible time for him to let it burn out and fade, it's right now.

Like I said... lucky.

Omen from/for Kentucky. And the rest of the primary for that matter.

this is f'ing amazing.

Not to be an Obama Apologist

Having written that...

Firstly,
I'm fine with a 6-8% loss.
that's on the thin side of what was expected.

and secondly,
according to NYTimes.com
looking at the county by county breakdown,
he's winning by 15%.
aren't these the counties that have the "blue districts",
don't these way heavier delegate-wise?
is this going to be a delegate wash just like texas and nevada?

i'm just sayin...

Bitter Small Town Folks Aren't Rubes.

So Sen. Obama refers to small town people as bitter about politics.  The Talking Heads, Sen. Clinton and Sen. McCain (all three of which are big money city folk) all state that he has insulted and condescended these honest hardworkin' folk.  And yet it doesn't seem that it is hurting Obama.  How can this be?  Is it possible that they are in fact bitter about politics and are self aware enough that they do decide to vote on issues like religion and gun control?  Could these small town rubes actually realize that Obama was telling it like it is and that the others were actually pandering?  Being from a small town does not preclude you from understanding a little truth about oneself nor does it preclude you from sensing when someone is really being condescending by faking insult and spouting meaningless platitudes.
