Sarah Palin vs Caroline Kennedy: the Cage Match!

Sarah Palin is sour-graping it. She's pointing out the many differences between her nearly-year-long affair with the national media and the quickies Caroline has been having. Yes, there are differences, but the ones Palin imagines are insubstantial.

First, I'm calling her Caroline. She's our sister. We know her- we've seen her baby pictures. By contrast, Sarah Palin is a small-town beauty queen, former talking head on local FOX, mayor of a town we'd call a neighborhood out here in the cosmopolitan northeast, and then governor of what should be the least populous state in the union. In other words, she's a nobody, and Kennedy is a somebody- not just any somebody, but a Kennedy.

Let's focus now on interview skills. Palin has been in the newspaper, on the radio and on television for several years as a public figure, allowing Alaska the honor being considered public, even though I could see more Russians in my garage than could see her on a clear day. She scoffs at Caroline Kennedy's near-illiterate responses, and she did sound a bit Barbie. But as a private citizen, her relationship with the television would be more like my kids and their relationship with Jim Lehrer. Sure there's a TV over there, and some old guys come on and Dad maybe yells at us to be quiet while he talks...the kids are too busy for Jim. They have lives and personalities. A real life and a personality don't mean you can snap your fingers and become Tom Cruise, who delivers lines he does not, in fact, make up as he recites them. But Sarah hasn't presented her defense for coming from television and then failing to become coherent when the camera came on.

Then there's privilege and public service. Caroline came from money and stayed there, presently lives in Manhattan where she rubs elbows with millions and greases the wheels of society by donating from her kitty. Palin was born on the frontier, stayed there, and presently interacts with dozens. Her attitude toward the role of the public in the public is grounded in her lack of experience with more than a handful of people, so she's the ultimate red-state ideologue, as if idiocy could suffice for ideology. When the current Mayor of Wasilla was interviewed, we learned there are no public services. Just police, payroll and snow plows.

Another important difference is the job they're applying for. Sarah Palin wanted to take her hyperthyroidism skills gained as a hockey mom national, to become the new president when McCain's ticker finally stops ticking. She wanted to win a national popularity contest. Kennedy's case is a state case, in which the people of New York are the sole standing parties. She's also not running. She would be appointed by the governor to serve out the remaining years of Hillary Clinton's term. As a fat cat, she already has more administrative and managerial experience than Sarah Palin. Twenty people probably work for her now.

And she's nice. You know which one I'm talking about. Caroline Kennedy can bet on people trusting her to do what she thinks is best, without screwing them. Sarah, by contrast, is a shrill opportunist with nothing in the treasury and plenty of want.

I didn't really care, since the Senate job will go to a democrat. But now I do, so we can see what quality does when thrust into service. I've been imagining the kind of work DuhByoo will do once he's out of office, and we should all be pretty confident he'll be a partisan hack, a wastrel and a shill. He's a grifter. What would Palin do? She would bitch and complain, because she bitches and complains.

Sarah Palin is the governor of a state. Caroline Kennedy gives speeches commemorating her father.

George Bernard Shaw used to say better singing on a street corner for a day than in a shower for 10 years.

I can see why you're a liberal. Based on recent observations, liberals have trouble with even the simplest math skills. For example, Barack Obama said: "I've been to 57 states." He also said that John McCain was running for "George Bush's 4th term." Joe Biden said that "JOBS" was a "three" letter word (For most liberals, I’m sure “jobs” is a four letter word in more ways than one.) and that Article I of the constitution was about the executive branch. It's actually Article II. You'd think a guy who has been a lawyer and senator for over thirty years would know that.

Now, we have you stating that Sarah Palin has had a nearly-year-long affair with the national media. It hasn't even been half a year. Congrats, you've passed the liberal poor math skills test. You are qualified to be one of many stupid liberals on the now cooling planet.

So you think Caroline Kennedy is qualified to be a U.S. Senator because we've all seen her baby pictures and we've watched her grow up. We watched Mickey Rooney grow up at the theater and on television too, that doesn't make him qualified to be a U.S. Senator. Then again, Barack Obama thinks being a television star qualifies Dr. Sanjay Gupta to be the U.S. Surgeon General. I'd have preferred someone who has asked patients to turn their head and cough or open up and say ahhhhhhh a little more recently.

I love stupid liberals who think everyone around them is even dumber than they are and therefore tend to review Palin's mayoral experience while completely leaving out her accomplishments as governor thinking the omission will not be noticed. Frankly, Palin accomplished more in two years as an Alaskan Governor than Obama did in eight years in the IL State Senate and 4 years in U.S. Senate. The man accomplished nothing important during these 12 years, yet he was somehow more qualified than Palin. We won't even get into the crooked way he won those elections.

Liberals love saying that Alaska is the least populous state. I'll remind you that Palin was running for VP like Biden. If DE were a city in Texas, it would be the fourth largest city. Census data shows DE and AK to be very similar in terms of population, education, and income, yet we never heard anything about Biden's tiny state.
As for Palin not being coherent when the cams are on, you've obviously missed a few of Biden's and Obama's finest moments in front of the cam. Not to fear, I have them posted on my website:

http://www.hootervillegazette.com

Just click on the video tab and watch Gaffe Mania I and Gaffe Mania II. Those are the Obama vids. If you want to watch Joe Biden make an idiot out of himself on cam, just watch the vid entitled "Hair Plugs Too Deep?" and you'll never make fun of Palin's online gaffes again. At least you won't without being a hypocrite.

I'm sure as Governor of AK Sarah Palin deals with more than a few dozen people. Again you go back to Wasilla thinking it won't be noticed. To hear liberals tell the story, Mayor of Wasilla is the only job Palin has ever had. Even if it were true, it would be one more executive position than Caroline Kennedy has held.

"As a fat cat she already has more administrative and managerial experience than Palin." You've got to be kidding. Click your heels together a few times and keep saying that Dorothy.

"Palin is an extreme opportuntist with nothing in the treasury, and plenty of want." LOL, one could easily say the same about your reasoning skills. Palin earned everything she has. Unlike Hillary or Caroline, she's not riding the coattails of a famous male that has come before her on to the national stage.

"And She's nice. You know which one I'm talking about." Yes, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, that I know which one you're talking about. The "you know" was the tip-off. Even traditionally liberal news outlets are making fun of Caroline Kennedy for breaking the world record on the number of "you knows" one can pack into a sentence. She say's "you know" so much, NFL football players are saying, "damn, Caroline says 'you know' a lot."

As for Palin’s bitching and complaining, she has every right to do so. This past election was the year the liberal leftstream media chose to drop all pretence of objectivity and openly support a highly unqualified Barack Obama for president simply because of the social implications the victory would bring.

You people now have what you wanted. Enjoy!

When Republicans started equating jobs with blowjobs, they lost me. The media lost all objectivity when they started buying Republican faxes as objective truth and lunching with the Pres as an opportunity for promotion rather than a time to ask tough questions. We just spent 8 years with a buffoon as president, and just 2 months ago paid another $700 billion for the honor. So much for slam dunk in-and-out of Iraq we go. So much for Republicans being the "grownups", "party of fiscal responsibility", "conservative", and what not. Go back and practice with monopoly money until you get the hang of it. Palin? She's okay, knows how to give a speech, knows how to rile people up. The problem is that Republicans have gotten so used to getting kickbacks over the last 8 years that they've forgotten what it's like to actually provide useful services for your wage. Smile, utter another devoid-of-reality platitude and cash your paycheck - ka-ching. Except that easy money's done run out. The party that supposedly understood business didn't know squat except siphoning off serious money out the back door. And keeping the party faithful lined up with nodding heads more in tandem than Oprah's audience. Patriots my ass. You aided and abetted an asshole and you have the audacity to show up bitching about liberals. Call me when you complete your community service.

Saying there is 57 states is a slip up. Any reasonable person can forgive that. Saying that you have national security creds because you are next to Russia is utterly ridiculous. What's more infuriating is that Cindy and John McCain repeated that nonsense on TV! I am a woman and I am completely pissed that Palin thought it was ok to freaking wink into the camera during a debate where millions of people are watching in order to determine the next leader of our country in these very scary times. If I was her friend or sister, I'd take her in a room and shake the stupid out of her. She needs to stop this pity parade and get on with taking care of Alaska. The Left and the media didn't take down Palin she dragged herself down with her arrogance and ignorance. Remember when she said Obama now wishes that he had picked Hillary. Really? How about mocking community organizers? Oh that woman makes me so mad! I have no respect for anyone who can't take responsibility for their failure - no one - male or female. And if she was a Democrat I would be down right ashamed. Yeah, we won and you need to get over it.

You do know who I'm calling the nice one, and you hate yourself for it. Don't kill the messenger.

Damn, am I the only one suddenly thinking about that MTV claymation "Celebrity Death Match" series from a few years back?

I wanted to stay away from this. But you eloquently
handled the matter.

It was a dirty job and somebody had to do it.
Very well said.

I can't believe I got sucked into reading another Palin essay...but, it was an enjoyable read...Somehow I just never get tired of hearing what an idiot she is, bless her little heart.

This whole issue is so ridiculous. There is a world of difference between uttering an occasional "you know" while speaking vs. being utterly incapable of crafting and speaking a complete and coherent sentence. Caroline Kennedy has written a book on the law and the Constitution as they relate to privacy; Sarah Palin could barely name a Supreme Court case by name when asked.

Nice post. Maureen Down also nails the issue to the wall here:

Kennedy is not near as smart or respected as Sarah Palin. I know the liberals are trying to destroy Palin, but they never will. The more they try the more people like her. C Kennedy has never done anything but be born into a family that most people really do not respect once you get out of the North East.

user-pic
The more they try the more people like her.

Not really. The polling data shows that the closer to the election, the lower Palin's approval numbers were.
