GRU in Baghdad March-April 2003???

Yup.

During the invasion, I  was looking at purported GRU intel feeds from Baghdad, which BTW said exactly what Trainor/Gordon said in Cobra II.  I can't recall how or where I picked these up but as the days passed I came to think they might be authentic.

So I called in my Russian pal Yuri from SFSU. We collaborated  and were fairly sure that the GRU reports we were reading from Baghdad were real. THe original Russian looked good, the predictions were accurate to w/in 48 hours, and generally, the GRU reports seemed to track the Old USSR style of writing and thinking....

But we couldn't say for sure...

Now we can

Pentagon report says Russia gave Iraq intelligence

According to these GRU reports, they were there to observe the tactics of the US because Russia saw us as their most probable military threat. They were particularly interested in the tactics and opportunities that Saddam's fedayeen were presenting behind the lines of the US advance.

The GRU postings stopped as 3d armor approached the Baghdad airport.

I wish I'd saved those reports..I am sure Dumbsfeld has.

Godspeed Yuri ..where ever you are!!

Reality Check: TPMC Muscular Wilsonians

America Meet Your New Mortal Enemy

Bush would have us believe that EyeRan is now Mortal Enemy #1 - Funny how the WarParty is so very needful of "enemies" isn't it?

Well it is unless you are an Iraqi; an American taxpayer, or US soldier stationed on the "Central Front"

But all talk of Greatest Strategic Disaster aside, maybe we, as patriots. should put on "the hard-thinking caps", as Gen Odom would have it and take a hard look at our New Nemesis.

As luck would have it, hose wild and crazy intel analysts at Defense and the National Interest have done the hard work for us. All we have to do is a little not-so-hard thinking.

The White House has cited Iran as potentially the greatest future threat to US national security.

What's yours?

Truer words have never been spoken than
Ask any "good" democrat: Ask Ed Kilgore's DLC, Ask Shrill Hill,
Ask Ivo
Please ask and please listen carefully to what they say for faced with the Greatest Strategic disaster in its history, the "vaunted" US political system has utterly failed. Constipated as it were at the production end...the Hall of Mirrors, Versailles on the Potomac
Throw all the bums out. If we do, we needn't lift a finger to rid ourselves of the "supporting cast" of lobbyists, think tanks, and "leadership" councils. When the goin gets tough, the rats are the first to bail the sinking ship.

The Lobby Watch

A regular FEATURE ...an occasional series over the next few weeks to test the hypothesis tendered by John Mearsheimer/Steven Walt in the JFK School's The Israel Lobby

How powerful are they?
Were the autor's correct to assert that they couldn't find a US national circulation publisher? Is that why they had to go to the London Review of Books

To test their hypothesis, I will report how many US national news services carry a report about the report [Haaretz, the Jerusalem Post, Al Jazeera all over it like white on rice]

Release Date: 3/19/06

Readers may reject our conclusions, of course, but the evidence on which they rest is not controversial. from JFK School Unedited Version

Votive Mass for Peace

Bush observed the 3d anniversary of his War on Iraq and didn't once use the word war. We celebrated a Votive Mass for Peace Aron, son of a parishioner, just back from Iraq has recovered from injuries suffered in an IED blast. Several of Aron's comrades were not so fortunate. He was at Mass this evening where he and his family read the names of those still in Iraq in harm's way, still dying for no discernable reason.

We were not so reticent when it came to telling the truth.

The Eagle Has Crash Landed

Decline and fall
Kevin Phillips, no lefty, says that America -- addicted to oil, strangled by debt and maniacally religious -- is headed for doom.

If it sounds familiar, it should..

Pax Americana is over. Challenges from Vietnam and the Balkans to the Middle East and September 11 have revealed the limits of American supremacy. Will the United States learn to fade quietly, or will U.S. conservatives resist and thereby transform a gradual decline into a rapid and dangerous fall?
