Bill Moyers suggests President Obama consider Josh Marshall's healthcare plan!
Just got this link from a friend via email, and can't say how right Bill Moyers is, once again. Didn't see any other blog posts or staff comments about it (but I'm often a bit quick to post, so if anyone has already posted about it, my sincere apologies.)
Here's the link, and the quote about Josh.
From Bill Moyers "Here's a suggestion, Mr. President: ask Josh Marshall to draft your speech. Josh is the founder of the website talkingpointsmemo.com. He's a journalist and historian, not a politician. He doesn't split things down the middle and call it a victory for the masses. He's offered the simplest and most accurate description yet of a public insurance plan -- one that essentially asks people: would you like the option -- the voluntary option -- of buying into Medicare before you're 65? Check it out, Mr. President."
A rare personal note to Josh; Can't say how proud I am. While I have no legitimate claim to that pride other than I'm just another crazy TPM commentor, I can't help but feel kinship and fellowship when you get such well-deserved accolades. When people like Moyers, noble Americans with great hearts and brilliant minds, recognize how you represent reason in this age of media malfeasance, it justifies all of us for hanging around and adding our two-cents worth to your measured leadership. Don't take it just as a compliment, Josh, it is a heavy duty to be recognized as someone the President should refer to. I think Barack should seriously take that advice, and seek your worthy pen (keyboard) to help him craft a message that might assuage the disenfranchised public you so clearly represent. You know this, but it bears rethinking. Words are the most powerful force in the history of mankind. So, if the lowly pen is mightier than the sword, then what's your keyboard worth? You have already impressed some of the best minds in the business, and Moyers' advice should be taken seriously by our President.

This is the 3rd time this topic is up.
Instead of asking why JEP07 is hogging up valuable space, you are congratulating him for same.
You see, wendy? Your "standards" are inconsistently applied.
Psst... flowerchild now has two posts on the recommended reader's list. Are you going to chastise her as well?
JEP07: No offense intended at all. Most of us at TPM don't feel like we need to police the site... my comment wasn't about your blog (hell, I rec'ed it!) as wendy being on the prowl.

Ah, consistency! The Hobgoblin of little minds! I believe I said that some blogs could even be time-sensitive, thus requiring two blogs be up.
The person who had five up at once: you think that's okay? I thought on those threads about faux recommendations you were squawking at the Regulars' objections because they were conservatives being unfairly attacked. I can't even get the gist of what Mr. Five Blogs is posting about. His main aim seemed to get four or five of his pieces on the front page, and he succeeded!
You do excel at attacking people with your clear-thinking skills.
Thank you from,
Wendy on the Prowl
Grrr.

Well, CT has one of the littlest minds ever seen on this site. And I am sure there are other things of his we could accurately so describe as well.

OUCH, Grouch!
Though i was a shrewish grumpy-pants hall-monitoring cow. I apologized a litlle for it to Mr. Five Blogs. Didn't matter a whit.

Wendy, you write:
Except you just complained about how the rich get treated differently than others.
You see?
You are inconsistent. Again.
Rules either apply to everyone or no one. In the course of your comment here, you also called every progressive "a little mind".
PS There is no such thing as apologizing a little. And Grouch recently talked here about wishing that Hinckley used a .38 caliber weapon on Reagan. Of course, I only saw Stilli be appalled by that comment. Such is life here at TPM.

"Rules either apply to everyone or no one."
In reality, things are not so clear, Clearthinker.

Clearthinker, I have a suggestion. Why not change your screen name to "Fingerwagger." It really suits you much better.

You are a gracious blogger, Wendy.
Sorry to be such an echo chamber, I missed your Friday post completely because I was not online for a few days, something that has not occurred for a couple years, but this summer has been the rule rather than the exception..
I've been castigated in the past for supposedly repeating "someone else's" stuff, but never has it been plagiarism, it always comes from a sincere moment of enthusiasm, and the fact I just can't read and comment of everyone's posts, like some do..
Sometimes I think some of the "regulars" don't understand, some of us can't camp out here full time, all the time. Although I have spent many a week hanging out incessantly, there have been gaps that put me outside that in crowd.
Thus, the spontaneous post that others might consider copycat, which they are not.
It is really exciting to see such a well-respected, traditional journalist recognize the movers and shakers in this new medium that we all can take such a part in.
One thing I di in the process, is to send the link to everyone on my activist/politics email list, which includes at least a few folks who have as yet not been introduced to TPM, and this endorsement coming from someone they know and respect might get more than a few of them alurking, maybe even commenting, and better yet, posting to their own TPM blogs.
That list is over 1,000 people.

You just hit my big problem with these Reader's blog's ... they're like ships passing in the night without their running lights on. Sometimes I want to go back and re-read one because someone said something that was unique and to the point, but it's been sucked into the TPM blackhole of blog irrelevant posts never to be seen or heard from again.
Nottaworry there mate. The more people who re-post the Moyer's video and the more who talk about David Goldhill's essay in The Atlantic, the more information gets into the mix and people begin to think rather than react about possibilities they never thought about because they didn't have enough facts to fall back on.

Maybe just take her at her word, it's good to have it up again. There was no criticism, but rather a pleasure in knowing others thought it was important as well. I've always taken things of this nature in the spirit of "imitation is the highest form of flattery", although, as you state, your post was self-induced.

Oh, goodness, JEP07, it wasn't like any of my posting of the Moyers clip had anything to do with me. I was just tickled fo Josh and TPM. Hell, I had thought of re-posting it after 24 hours, just to be sure Josh saw it, and more people could watch the clip!
Clearthinker was looking for a way to skewer me, not you. He thought I was out of line asking one kid to reduce his number of posts; please don't let any of the bilge he threw at me splash onto you.
The Moyers clip was great, wasn't it? Did you see the other segments? The one about indefinite detention was chilling.

I think this is great. I really do.
One of our writers, at Cafe for heavens sakes was quoted and cited by Moyers. Now the writer is known all over and is a pro, not a hack in pj's like I am. But Moyers clearly has people reading TPM. ha
Good post.
