Pawlenty the next Blagojevich?
Just a short post to posit the thought that Pawlenty's beginning to smell a lot like Blagojevich.
We all know Blago was fishing for a return on his appointment investment, and that he obviously assumed it was a political gift for him to hand out, and not a solemn duty to assure representation for his constituents.
Can someone differentiate for me what Pawlenty's doing from what Blago did?
Seems as if Pawley's the new Blago. He sure seems poised to deny due process, and obviously he wants desperately to give it to someone he supports, the electorate be damned.
Seriously, what's the big difference between Pawlenty's and Blagojevich's tack?

I can think of two differences offhand.
1) Unlike Gov. Spellcheck, Timmah! is not likely to face indictment or impeachment for his antics. He's been careful enough to not have money involved, or at least not quite so openly. Norman, on the other hand...
2) Spellcheck has very different hair.

"Norman, on the other hand..."
Are you referring to his Texas contributions?
One would think he might want to get OUT of the spotlight gracefully. Maybe Smilin' Norm should make a deal that he'll go quietly into the night if the FEC and the DOJ will leave him alone.

Indeed I am. Apparently the FBI investigation is ramping up somewhat.
I wonder if Quimby's feelin' some heat?

Could you advise the back story here please? I must have missed this.......
Appreciate.

Actually, I was just trying to get the names "Pawlenty" and "Blagojevich" on the same page.
Purely for propaganda purposes.
Pawlenty certainly does not want that comparison made public, no matter how thin it might be.
But the more I ponder the similarities between them, the more I think there's some validity to it, especially the sense of self-entitlement these people have in lieu of public interests.

Only thing I know of is the Senate race where Pawlenty might have some leverage over signing Franken's certification.
I think it's appalling that the certificate has not been issued.

The certificate can not be issued until the SC-MN rules, according to MN election law.
Quimby and the Republicans are exploiting cracks in the law, a practice they've made their own for decades.

What?! Repos use loopholes???
[feint faint]
Just curious, does MN law forbid the Governor from issuing yet, or does it rather only not require him to issue yet?
Fine distinction... That is, could a Franken supportive Guv. go ahead an issue it without violating the statute?

Apparently, no certificate can be issued while the election is being contested. Once the MN-SC rules, Franken can seek a writ of mandamus requiring Pawlenty to sign off on certification. And Quimby, in turn, can seek an injunction from the SCOTUS holding that up.
Thing is, the public's patience with Slimy Norman is growing very, very thin, and I don't think Timmay! wants to tie himself to that too closely. He has to face an election next year, and has national ambitions.
I think we'll see this resolved sooner rather than later.
