Pollster.com pundit predicts Palin polls present preference for OBAMA

http://www.pollster.com/blogs/margie-omero/

Margie Omero of Pollster.com (yes, those wonderful folks who bring us those neat little graph-charts that Josh posts so prominently) has an interesting take on Palin's influence.

Seems she's getting a not-too-surprising bump in votes from a minority of white women, while losing many more votes to a much wider spectrum of demographic groups...

How to beat the server error glitche...

Once you are done sending your comment or blog, and the "internal server error" page pops up, just hit your "back" button and return to the comment or blog page, and it will appear identical to what it was before you hit "send."

Then, instead of hitting :"send" again, just hit your refresh button, and your post will appear properly...

Palin "hail-Mary" speech failed miserably... attack, not issues, her only option.

The unspoken truth that all the "poundits" are not speaking is that the McCain trainwreck just got worse, and
unless they shore up their base, they will be relegated to third-party status in the next two political cycles.

McCain's co-opting of BushRove's wingnut base is nothing more than a confession of failure.

No one with a modicum of political horse sense will even suggest this power hungry, personally ambitious "mean-girl for VP" will attract Hillary's disgruntled Dems.

What Palin represents and propounds is in diametric opposition to their progressive creed, and they are typically about 10 IQ points above the typical republican clone voters, so they aren't likely to join the "some of the people all of the time" lump.

The "change" proponents in both parties will view this executive bully as more of the same. She is plagued by insider deals galore (got milk?) and an addiction to federal earmarks (ala Ted Stevens), on her short and troubled resume. Did I mention her using her political influence for personal reasons (Troopergate?)

Somewhere in the mix, over the past three months, the reality of a potential third-party demotion, instigated by 8 years of Bush/Cheney no-bid, book cooking management, has sunk in and they are no longer looking to gain the White House, they are desperately trying to save their party from the plague of obscurity that will come when the rejuvenated (literally) Democratic Party and the ever-growing Independent Party outstrip the GOP when this cycle is over.

Palin's pick as the VP was an act of desperation, to salvage the party from future obscurity.

And despite the "experts'" adulation, her shrill, issue-challenged, harpy-harangue speech at the convention was no masterpiece. It was just more proof that they have only one tool in their arsenal; attack their opponent, because they have no record to brag about and no real plan to fix the mess they enabled Bush and Cheney to make.

She may energize the wingnuts and the old timers, but to anyone with an eye on history, both past and future, she represents the straw that broke the elephant's back. Had she taken some time to address even one real issue, maybe it would not be so tranparent, but her anti-Dem rhetoric did nothing to assuage the public's fears that McCain equals Bush.

This dubious strategy has already backfired on them, and every day they try to blame the media for their own misguided decision, they dig themselves deeper into the pit.

By criticizing the media, they are turning on their own best champion, and we will see that mistake play out sooner than later.

Hey, Schmidt, Rove, Hannity and the rest of you Republican crybabies...

Stop blaming the blogs for what us bloggers post.

We are exercising our right to free speech.  If you think it is so libelous, then sue someone, but until then, stop whining about the media and the blogs.

Your real problem is that most of what you call trash is really the truth, so you can't sue anyone without exposing that truth.

The repercussions of your vindictive campaign creed is turning on you all, and it is cosmically ironic to say the chickens are coming home to roost.

After what you and your fellow defamers have done to our precious democracy, it seems rather fitting to watch all of your chicken-feathers get ruffled-up in arrogant indignation when the truth turns against you, and the public gives back the same kind of despicable  deception and hate mongering you have given us for so long.

Stop crying, it is bad enough you ridicule us as soft, it is even worse when you whimper like spoiled bullies every time the tables turn on you.

Get over it, and get on with the campaign, although it is very doubtful you can manage the two McCains, Joe's maverick that God made AND the angry machine you have created.

The corrupt, confused chimera that struggles between those sides must surely have been the one who picked Palin.

Palin's "mother of all smoking guns" ... sheer hypocrisy!

From the Anchorage Daily News story referenced by Josh today...

"Palin wanted the review because a special investigator hired by the Legislature is about to investigate the firing and a legislator has been quoted in a newspaper story talking about impeachment."

A common trick from these sneaky foxes; when the hounds close in, pretend you are a hound... Palin calling for an investigation when one is already in the works ought to set our tinfoil hats a-tingling.

Anyone who accuses the blogs or the Obama campaign of "trashing" Palin when they reference this story is just showing their desperation. The truth is never trash, and anyone who is afraid to speak the truth in fear of being accused of trash-talking needs to grow more spine.

I, for one, can only read extreme desperation in this Palin as VP scenario. With this kind of baggage on her hands, they must have been so desperate to garner the social conservatives, I get the feeling they aren't even trying to win over the majority any more, they are just trying to get a big enough minority to save themselves from the most embarassing landslide in political history.

No doubt the social conservatives could care less about the corruption implications, as long as she's a fellow wingnut, they will excuse her... nay,  they will embrace her, as they ignore her power abusing corruption and put her arcane, politically motivated socail values above the rule of law.

HYPOCRITES!
