I guess the good news, if it can be called that, is that there haven't been any stories about mass voter challenges or intimidation, at least not that I've seen. The problems are more a matter of the system being overwhelmed by numbers it hasn't seen before.

Obama 286, McCain 252. Obama wins, but not in the EV rout many are predicting.

Obama wins Kerry + IA, NM, CO, and VA.

PA and VA will decide it and both will be VERY close. McCain's campaign has made a lot of questionable moves, but it wouldn't have been wasting scarce (compared to Obama) resources in PA if it didn't think it could win it.

The McCain campaign itself is not running this ad. It's a Political Action Committee (otherwise known as a 527 group) that isn't directly associated with McCain but does have an interest in seeing his opponent lose. It's the same type of group that ran the Swiftboat ads against Kerry four years ago.

This came up during the primaries and did some damage to Obama, although he managed to overcome it in the end. Will he be able to do so this time, especially since he's running against the party associated with American pride and toughness on defense and national security?

Agreed. By appealing to the base they wrecked the possibility of bringing in the center. They could never see a week ahead at any point in the race.

Appealing to the base was how the Repubs won the last two elections. They split the independents down the middle and fired up their base so much that it came out in larger numbers than their opponent's base.
