The 17th and 18th century concept of "manifest destiny" and the overwhelming desire to "tame the wild west" was based on a wholly incorrect interpretation of this Genesis 1:28 quote.

In Hebrew the original meaning of the word "radah" is more akin to the concept of a "steward;" NOT "one who dominates."

Similarly, the Hebrew word "kabas" meant a tiller, or keeper of the earth; NOT one who subdues. Be that as it may, much of mankind always has twisted truth into lies whenever convenient to their own end.
