Oil And Water

As it has become painfully obvious that I generally limit my comments here primarily as a result of my serious lack of time.   I do have time to quickly scan the headlines and read an occasional thread...  But I simply don't have time to sit down and complete a thought.  For me to type this opening paragraph of this entry took me over 10 minutes and I was interrupted MANY times by phone calls and scripts to fill...  It's maddening!   A "Complete Thought" is a LUXURY I don't have nowadays...   So, for that I apologize.   This thread is likely to be as close as I get to a full blown Blog...   Hope it satisfies. :)

Recession forces WellPoint to cut own benefits

Star report Posted: October 5, 2009
Insurer WellPoint dismissed a "small number" of workers last week and announced cuts to employee health benefits Friday as job losses nationally continued to take a toll on its health care plan enrollment.

Bloomberg reported that the company told employees of the Indianapolis-based company in a memo last week that it will raise deductibles in two of its three benefit plans and lower its contribution toward worker premiums for some of its employee health benefits.

Kinda SLIMY.  I'm imagining the laid off employees as so many birds on the shore after the EXXON Valdez.  Oil is nasty stuff...  non?

Obama quietly tries to shore up Senate support for public option

The president has backed off from vocally supporting the idea of government-run healthcare, but he's working to build a coalition of supporters. The challenge: Find a version that can pass.

Reporting from Washington - Despite months of outward ambivalence about creating a government health insurance plan, the Obama White House has launched a behind-the-scenes campaign to get divided Senate Democrats to take up some version of the idea for a final vote in the coming weeks.

President Obama has cited a preference for the so-called public option. But faced with intense criticism over the summer, he strategically expressed openness to health cooperatives and other ways to offer consumers potentially more affordable alternatives to private health plans.

In the last week, however, senior administration officials have been holding private meetings almost daily at the Capitol with senior Democratic staff to discuss ways to include a version of the public plan in the healthcare bill that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) plans to bring to the Senate floor this month, according to senior Democratic congressional aides.

Refreshing. A much needed drink of water, indeed.

And it's just the solvent needed to clean off those filthy birds mentioned above.  Well... that, and a little "DAWN".  Perhaps the Sun Will Rise on Healthcare afterall...  and that will be a glorious DAWN for America.

(Sorry for the ad below... (if it's there at all)... I can't seem to delete it from the body of my post)
