Eric writes that this has never been done by a major candidate, but I'm pretty sure that Goldwater did this back in '64-- had Reagan give a speech for him at the end of the campaign. Maybe it wasn't across all networks? And in general, I thought 30 minute blocks for campaign-related stuff happened fairly frequently back then.</p>

<p>But then, Elizabeth Hasselbeck thinks it "repulsive," and Halperin chooses to make it a big deal, so what do I know?</p>]]>
