It's the Bottom of the 9th

Hillary's at the plate.  No one on base, she's two strikes down, and Obama's ahead by 5.  Suddenly she turns to the umpire and says, "If you add up all the steps we've each taken in this game, it turns out I've run farther than Obama.  He's got more runs than me, but I've run farther than he has.  So I should win the game."

The crowd roars, the ball whizzes past, and the umpire yells, "You're OUTTA there!"

Arianna Huffington Has Had Enough (And So Have I)

Arianna Huffington argues that it's time to put serious pressure on the superdelegates to end this farce, and she includes a useful list of the remaining uncommitted supers:

If you see anyone on the list who lives in your state and could use a gentle shove, it might be worth sending them an email.  Obviously you want to keep it short, respectful and to the point.  This is over.  It needs to end.  Rachel Maddow makes a good case for why it needs to end:

Karl Rove Served!

Is the Dream Ticket Truly Dead?

Interesting tidbit from Al Giordano, via The Field:

The Field can now confirm, based on multiple sources, something that both campaigns publicly deny: that Senator Clinton has directly told Senator Obama that she wants to be his vice presidential nominee, and that Senator Obama politely but straightforwardly and irrevocably said “no.” Obama is going to pick his own running mate based on his own criteria and vetting process.

If true, this is major news.  Not that we'll ever know for sure...

Florida Delegates Suing the DNC

Three Florida delegates, including the state's Senate Democratic leader have filed a federal lawsuit against the Democratic National Committee claiming the DNC violated their constitutional rights by barring them from the party's national convention.

It will be interesting to see where this leads (if anywhere).  It's not reported in this story, but CNN said that one of the plaintiffs is an Obama delegate.

My Personal GOTD Campaign

The McCain campaign is currently seeking comment trolls to post McCain talking points on sites like TPM.

http://www.johnmccain.com/ActionCenter/BlogInteract/BlogInteract.aspx

One great feature of the site is the little drop-down list that provides suggestions for blogs to post on.  Wow, I've joined about a million conservative blogs this week!  It's all part of my non-official 2008 Get Out the Despair campaign.  It's easy, it's fun, and you can do it too.  Just pick a blog and start posting.  Here are a few idea suggestions:

"As a life long Republican, I'm going to have a very tough time voting for John McCain.  I can't stand his immigration ideas.  He want's to let Mexicans take over the country.  Is he crazy?  He say's their God's children.  They are MEXICANS!!!!  And they want to take are JOBS!!!  Get real, McCain!!!  Your NOT A REAL REPUBLICAN!!!"

"Why wont McCain talk about his church?  Every time someone asks him a question, he get's nervous and changes the subject?  He needs to start talking about religion more or he will loose!"

"The thing I'm worried about is McCain hangs around with Democrats like Liebermen.  It makes me wonder if he's just saying whatever to get elected.  Then when he get's in office he changes his tune and throws us under the bus.  He need's to say some things to make us trust him more.  MAN I wish we had a better choice!!"

"JOHN MCCAIN IS A TRAITER TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!!!!  WHY SHOULD I VOTE FOR HIM????  HE'S A DIMOCRAP IN WOLFS CLOTHS!!!!!"

Etc.

Obama Rally In Portland

I just happened to be in Portland this weekend on business, and saw the rally. I'm so surprised this hasn't received more coverage nationally.. It was one of the most amazing events I've ever seen. I was staying at the Marriot on the waterfront, and I had no idea there was going to be a rally. I heard the Decemberists playing outside, so I went out on the balcony to see what was going on. It was an unbelievable scene. The Willamette River, in front of the park, was filled with boats, the park was jam-packed with people, and there was a line of pedestrians that I was told stretched for 20 blocks in every direction. Sharpshooters on the bridges and rooftops, and helicopters flying overhead, and Mount Hood as the backdrop to the mayhem. It was like nothing I've ever seen in my life. There was so much energy in the air. I missed Obama when he was in Minneapolis (where I live), so it was great to finally have the opportunity to see him. This has to go down as one of the greatest campaign rallies of all time. I feel enormously lucky to have witnessed it. Just thought I'd share the moment.
