I simply do not understand this surge thing.
Before the Iraq war most everybody was very much afraid that Coalition troops would be bogged down in a bloody hand to hand combat of uncertain outcome.It didn't happen.
Now the US forces are looking forward to it. Why ?

The fact that you don't understand this surge thing is to your everlasting credit, since the "surge" - read escalation - makes no sense.
