Jackson Eyes Obama's Senate Seat

According to Political Wire, Jessie Jackson Jr. is pushing hard for Obama's Senate seat, should he win the presidency. Just curious about opinions on that ~

Jackson Eyes Obama's Senate Seat

Illinois political insiders say Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-IL), "who defended Barack Obama after his father famously threatened to castrate him, is the favorite to replace the Democratic nominee in the Senate," according to The Hill.

Said Jackson: "If Sen. Obama wins -- and I'm optimistic that he will, I indeed would be honored and humbled to succeed him in the U.S. Senate. But, in the end, the decision rests with Gov. Blagojevich and I'm confident that he'll make an appointment in the best interest of the state as well as the nation."

My understanding was that Rahm Emanuel is in line for the position.

I wish Jan Schakowsky would get it.

Hell to the No on JJJ for too many reasons to list.

I've got my fingers crossed for Rahm Emmanuel, but his leadership would be sorely missed in the House. Rahm would be a very worthy successor to Pelosi in the future (or even better now if she steps aside for the good of the party :) ). Imagine if Rahm ran the House like he ran the DCCC in 2006? Take no prisoners and get stuff done. That would be awesome.

I'm with you on that! Rahm would make a hell of a Speaker, with Hillary as the Majority Leader in the Senate! Time for Harry to go too!

While trying to fall asleep after this eventful election evening I had a revelation as to EXACTLY who Governor Blagojevich should appoint. In fact, it was so powerful it threw me out of bed and back onto the computer.

He should appoint RFK's son Chris Kennedy! Chris manages the Kennedy's commercial property including the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, and he lives in one of the suburbs north of Chicago. People have been urging him to run for office for years, but he's been reluctant. This would be the perfect opportunity, and his re-election would all but be assured.

Obama has managed to rekindle liberal America's long dormant hopes, and the symbolism of a new Senator Kennedy, a son of the martyred JFK no less, is beautiful enough to make me cry.
