Is Obama Gary Cooper and Gregory Peck?

I've been watching the slime thrown by Palin and yesterday by Cindy McCain and have come to a conclusion ................ John McCain is a coward hiding behind the skirts of women. I watched the Obama interview with Charlie Gibson of ABC and it sounds to me like Barack just called ol McCain out. He said he wondered why McCain could not say these things to his face and perhaps he would in the next debate. (or words to that effect)......... All thru the past few months, especially when McCain was hitting Obama with those ads and Obama was slipping in the polls, the bloviators on TV kept yelling that Obama looked like a wimp for not responding forcefully. They claimed you can't win if you let this stuff slide. Keep in mind I am an old woman of almost 72 years, but it reminds me a bit of the old movies: Gary Cooper in High Noon and Gregory Peck in To Kill a Mockingbird. The laconic better educated quiet man always overcomes the bully.......... McCain has a long history of bullying others who disagree with him. I think he's met his match in the cereberal lawyer. :) The quiet man who wins by his brains and talent. Whatever admiration I once had for John McCain is now totally gone. He's shown he learned only one thing from his defeat in 2000. And that is: in order to try to win you sometimes have to destroy yourself. John McCain is no "maverick" He's just a sour defeated, grumpy, un-principled, sad shell of a man. I am encouraged by the recent polls but stil lfearful some unknown thing could happen and the polls could turn quickly in the other direction, but I continue to have faith in the wisdom of the voters that they will continue to reject the sleaze of McCain and his handlers.

Michigan decision fair?

After watching all day and listenening to all the speakers and blowhards  I was happy to see the Florida decision which I thought was fair to all.  As they began to discuss Michigan I thought "they can't seat any of them, this is just too much of a mess"   I was very surprised by the decision on the delegate split.

I tried to understand the MI state party's proposal and find a way to support it but I couldn't.

You all know by now I am a very strong Obama supporter.  I think the best way they could have handled MI was to not seat ANY of their delegates.

That said, I think Ickes made an ass of himself.  The audience also were rude and disprspectful even to Clinton supporters on the panel.  Democracy is not a pretty thing to watch :)

What I'd like to know is how FL and MI party officials came up with their proposals.

But now that it's done I think eveyrone has to live with it.  After all, Hillary said this last week:

"Last week, Clinton indicated that she might take the fight to the convention in August if Michigan and Florida want to challenge an unfavorable ruling on their delegates. The two states were stripped of their delegates for holding early primaries; a special Democratic National Committee panel meets Saturday to decide their fate.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Clinton was asked whether she would support the states if they appeal an unfavorable rules committee decision to the convention floor, the former first lady replied:

“Yes I will. I will, because I feel very strongly about this.”

“I will consult with Floridians and the voters in Michigan because it’s really their voices that are being ignored and their votes that are being discounted, and I’ll support whatever the elected officials and the voters in those two states want to do.”

Hillary Supporters Please think about this

I am a 71 year old white Catholic woman with no college education who lived thru the days when we women were kept "pregnant and barefoot". Women's place is taking care of her man and the home, etc.   I had 7 babies in 11 years and thought this is just the way it is for years.  Around the time of the Women's Movement I began to change and learned to stand up for myself and dislike the condesending way women were treated.  I loved watching women assert themselves and gain upper level jobs and educations.

I always wondered if a women could be president in my life time.

I'm sad that the first woman to have this opportunity was so flawed.  Her husband abused her and other women and she allowed it.  Further she led the attacks on these women.

Hillary has never had to go thru the steps like Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Jordan, and many others who got where they are on their own efforts. She got where she is by being in the shadow of a man.   I agree with some that she's very intelligent - her grasp of issues is extrodinary.  Had she worked her way up thru the ranks, I'd be very inclined to support her (if she'd not trashed all Bill's other women)

Hillary has let all women down by her constant whinning and distortions of facts.  She and Bill have played the victim to the point of hillarity.

Your support of this woman is misplaced.  She's not a champion for women.  She's a champion for herself.

When some of you talk about sexism, you are mistaking solid grounds for being against her.

Obama has had a very rough time running against the first woman to run for president - he has been a perfect gentleman to her (not all his supporters have been, I admit)  but he has.  It shows how carefully he tred with her now that he's unleashing his talents and toughness on McSame.  There's no way he could be that forceful to a woman and get away with it.

So don't cry to me about sexism.  I just don't see it.

I am a proud lifelong liberal Democrat.  Please don't let your anger over losing cloud your judgement by either staying home or voting for McSame once Obama becomes the nominee.   If you do that, you're no better than the fools who actually are mysoginists and sexists.
