I was dead wrong.
As a Clinton supporter, I thought Hillary would win the general easily and doubted Obama could. America proved me dead wrong.
President Obama ran a brilliant campaign and stayed on message with it's the economy again stupid. The best man won and it is a new day in America, Change is here.
I fully support President Obama and am confident he will use the Clinton economic team to clean up another bush recession. I think we will cut a deal with the taliban and both wars will be over.
President Obama has the opportunity to be one of the greatest Presidents in our history. I pray he will govern like he said and do as well as President Clinton.
I think he will.

Yay! This post brought an almost-as-big smile to my face as last night did. ;)

You weren't wrong to be skeptical at the time, gotalife. Like me, you really, really wanted a Democratic president, and Obama was a huge gamble. I'd like to remind you Obama did not stay on message: he borrowed heavily from Hillary after she dropped out, and he flip-flopped famously on several issues important to Democrats. He managed to win despite flip-flopping, however, helped in large part by the total collapse of the economy.

It was my sole intention to be generous to gotalife, not to Obama. I have always appreciated gotalife's contributions, so no mea culpa is required.
My thoughts about Obama's victory are not fully articulated in my comment, but hey, thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt!

All else was irrelevant, including Palin. Let Palin fry in her cold wilderness at the hands of her like cannibals.

I was dead wrong.
During the primary I was sure that if Hillary became the nominee, I could not vote for her. I was so angry at the campaign she ran against Obama. But the General made me realize how much Obama benefited from the primary election.
The General also made me realize that I would definitely have voted for Hillary. While I had never planned to vote for McCain (just not vote at all), I realized that had Hillary been the candidate against McCain/Palin, I would have had to vote for Hillary. It made me realize how stupid I was thinking even for a second that I wouldn't.

The greatest danger in politics is that one might have to take a good look at reality and realize you've been fighting the wrong battle. Or that you've been hoodwinked.
If Obama becomes a worse president than what I imagine Clinton could've been, I'll try to admit I was wrong.

This whole bring back the Clinton economic team thing is not a good idea. They are the people who ushered in more of the free trade, shock doctrine sycophantic privitization, and allowing Wall St. to run wild. Were you alive during these years when Clinton agreed to audit the poorest people at the highest rate for the earned income tax credit? Were you alive when he chose to start more free trade agreements that have wiped out whole industries of textiles, automotive, and manufacturing in general?
Clintons people, the IMF and World Bank devils are wolves in sheeps clothing. Just because they are Democrats doesn't mean they are good. Clinton's economic policies leave MUCH MUCH MUCH to be desired, and I really hope Obama is better than that.
Clinton was basically a Republican when it came to economic policy. Rubin, Reich, Summers all are swine.
Free trade is a race to the bottom. The country's property should not be auctioned off and the essential services of this country should not be privatized. I am against the Clinton regressive economic policies that are more Chicago School than progressive.
We need CHANGE, not more Clinton bubbles, and Clinton free trade.
