On Bush's: "the Democrat approach in Iraq comes down to this: The terrorists win and America loses."
I know that presidents will always campaign for their parties and ask the public to send members of the presidents party to congress to help him accomplish his goals. But have we ever had a president who was so righteously partisan that he would demonize the entire opposing party as being enemies of the state? That he would consider himself president of the Republicans rather than of Americans? It is astounding to me still that he has such contempt for differing viewpoints.
Just venting my disbelief. I'd love to see quotes from Clinton/Bush 41/Reagan/Carter/Ford/Nixon that are this bad. I guess the closest would be the Johnson mushroom cloud...still unbelievably perverse.

Bush is just expressing what Repubicans really feel about Democrats. To a Republican, we are THE ENEMY. We want to teach their kids evolution, show their daughters equal respect, and get in their pockets with taxes. We have the potential to do them far more harm than Osama bin Laden ever dreamed of doing. They have been "at war" with us since the fifties. To a Republican, politics is war by other means. They don't just want to win, they want to destroy us, and they will use any tactic or strategy.
But in all honesty, the reality is the opposite of boy George's comment: "the Republican approach in Iraq comes down to this: the terrorists are winning and America is losing and we're proud of our record".
